Can she get any cuter??

Josie ended up needing a little assistance from Daddy to remove the tooth and the smiles have been nonstop since.

New Year's Eve preparations at the dollhouses...

New Year's eve preparations have already started at the dollhouses.

I found an image of New Year's eve tiaras online, reduced the image size and then printed them out on photo paper. Tin foil glued to the tiara form the crown, but pipe cleaners work equally as well.

To make cone-shaped party hats, I used some of our foil Christmas bows and trimmed them to size, glued the edges shut and then dipped the rim of the hat in glitter.

Sparkly-fuzzy ribbon were also glued on the tops of the hats and the party horns. I used a few of my miniature plastic icicles to create the horn on the party hat.

As you can imagine, my craft room dollhouse is also having a special New Year's eve gathering.

The kitchen is filled with all sorts of desserts, a bit of champagne, as well as, some cheese and crackers.

Both girls are wearing paper tiaras and even have gifts to open under the tree.  A gentleman friend is joining them for the evening.
May your weekend be filled with some play time.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

My sister's log cabin...

I've shared my miniature cabin collection on several different posts and this particular cabin is one of my sister's favorites.

I picked it up several years ago at the Allegan antique market and it's decorated seasonally.  This is how the cabin looks for Christmas.  The wooden Santa was purchased in Moscow when Chris traveled several years ago to play hockey.

Every time she visits, my sister tells me that this cabin is going home with her. As a surprise, my husband put his carpentry skills to work and built my sister her very own log cabin for Christmas. The cabin logs were cut to a 1x1s and wood shims make-up the roof.

When it got too cold to finish it in the garage, the cabin came indoors to the kitchen.

The cabin prior to staining.

The cabin getting a couple of coats of stain.

Look how darling it turned out.

A mini wreath and Santa are now decorating the cabin.  And yes.  My sister loved it.  My mother is hinting that she might need one for Mother's Day.   Get ready, Chris!

It was a very merry Christmas...

Did you all have a good Christmas?  I'm savoring every single moment of our remaining Christmas break.
Getting ready to attend Christmas eve mass
Christmas break always brings back so many wonderful memories of playing with my little sister, crafting with my mom and convincing dad to play board games with us.  We saw back on this post that Santa can be a very thrifty fellow and that he even frequents estate sales, but did you also know that he shops on ebay and IKEA for toys?
Thanks to ebay, Josie now has 15+ storybook record albums.

With a little contact cement and the help of Chris, Santa also turned an $8 IKEA table into a Lego table.

Josie is also the proud owner of a very kitschy camper and even has new owl family ready to visit her blue dollhouse.

Don't you love the the gingham curtains?  So darn cute.

Although big sister Emma isn't really into toys anymore, she's always very patient when it comes to playing   with Josie.   In case you're wondering what the teenager got for Christmas...it was all about the Kindle and clothes.
Yes.  It was a very merry Christmas.

A bit more Christmas throughout the house...

Nothing says Christmas like a gaudy glitter-filled electronic candle!
I love my kitchen counter vignette at night.  So cozy.
My growing collection of gurley candles.
My indoor blowmold collection.
The stuffed Santa is from my childhood.
The sequined Santa centerpiece was also a favorite decoration
 from my childhood.
This is a picture of my father-in-law as a young boy sitting on Santa's lap.
My lantern bulb collection has been growing this year thanks to Magpie Ethel.
This pink bottlebrush wreath is tucked inside my feather boat wreath for Christmas.
It's hanging in our bedroom above the fireplace.
Pink mercury beads, bells and glass icicles dress up our bedroom chandelier.
Although there are a bunch of presents to wrap, holiday groceries to be purchased, and loads of weekend gatherings to attend, Christmas break officially starts as soon school is out today!  Yippee!!  Have a lovely weekend, my friends!
