Dumplings & More CNY Craft Ideas

Over the weekend, Chris brought me home a bamboo steamer from World Market.

We made pork dumplings (as featured in the latest issue of FamilyFun magazine). Instead of frying them, I steamed them. Not too bad. I love dips and I picked up a jar of sweet chili sauce to include with our dumplings.

Don't forget to add some chocolate covered fortune cookies for dessert. See this post for recipe instructions.

Speaking of fortune cookies, here is a cute idea from FamilyFun magazine for making paper fortune cookies out of muffin cups.

FamilyFun magazine also has instructions and a template for creating this ribbon dragon.

FamilyCorner posted this unique idea for crafting a red lanterns out of foam cups.

Happy soon-to-be CNY!!

PS. I might get brave and share some additional construction pictures in the next few days. The progress is really remarkable. Russel Plumbing & Heating, as well as Tissue Construction are superb. But, until our 3 new rooms are ready, the downstairs family room and upstairs living quarters is just very dusty and chaotic looking. I'm so anxious to start organizing my craft room. Rumor has it that my wood floor in my craft room is getting installed today!!!

  2. Well, I need to hurry and pull out the last Family Fun magazine. Thing is, this week is so crazy, I hardly have any time for crafting. We may just have to celebrate CNY next week.....

  7. We have a bamboo steamer too and we love it! Mmm, makes me hungry! I am going to try the fortune cookie craft and the chocolate-dipped fortune cookies for our party this weekend! Thanks! I have made the dragon craft ~ really like that one! I even used it for an older kids craft last year in my daughters' Saturday Chinese classes. FUN!
