Pneumonia crud...
Nothing like squashing our back-to-school excitement than having Josie sick with pneumonia. Her right lung is pretty full of fluid and we started azithromycin and albuterol breathing treatments yesterday. For the most part, if Josie is allowed to give her baby dolls some of her breathing treatment, she'll tolerate the noisy machine. We'll go back to the doctor's office on Friday for another chest x-ray to look at her lung and her heart size. With her newly repaired heart, we can't take any chances on fluid build up and congestive heart failure. No daycare this week. You know Josie isn't feeling well, when she asks to go lay down. Chris and I are taking turns staying home with Josie. The timing stinks with school start-up. It's moments like this, that I really struggle with managing work and motherhood...big sigh.
I'm happy to report that Emma had a fabulous first day of fifth grade. She also endured the 92 degree heat of soccer practice (it was a record heat day in MI). Her uniform is a bright neon yellow this year (grab your sunglasses...yikes). Her first game is this Saturday (Chris's 40th birthday). Go EMMA!
We had hoped to attend a local organization (Chinese Culture Group of Greater Grand Rapids) to celebrate the Moon Festival with Josie on Friday. I'm really disappointed to cancel, but we just need to build up Josie's immune system again. We'll have to do our own Moon Festival as a family.
Oh, I'm so sorry that Josie is sick! I hope she gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteOur 11 year old just started soccer, too. I thought you had to be down here to "enjoy" the 90's. :)
Take care of your little one and please keep us posted!
Praying for you,
Tammy

We are thinking of you all! I can't imagine all you are juggling just now. Congratulations to Emma on the start of 5th grade and the cool soccer uniform. Josie: Get better quick! xox, Caroline
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us posted. We have been lifting little Josie in prayer as a family.
ReplyDeleteLots of rest and TLC and she will be running wild before ya know it!
Glad Emma has the endurance to handle soccer in hot temps! whew. I know she will be glad when the days get cooler. Go Emma!
Poor Josie. And poor you! Right at the beginning of the school year, I can't imagine the stress of having to switch off on parent duty. Actually, that happens some to us but luckily my husband has worked at his same job 25 years and they are much more lenient than mine. I'll be praying for Josie to get well soon. At least Emma is busy enough for both of them!
ReplyDeleteOh, no, NOT what I wanted to read on your blog!!
ReplyDeleteHoping for quick recovery for Miss Josie, and strength and patience for you and Chris!
Love, Barb
So sorry Josie is starting off the school year in such a yucky way. Maybe this will be the end of the cold/flu season for your family? Let's hope.
ReplyDeleteSorry you won't be at the Moon Festival tomorrow -- we were looking forward to meeting you. Oh well, maybe another time.
I hope Josie feels better fast!
Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Josie is sick. I totally relate to the timing and struggles with mommy/worker thing. I go back to work on Monday.
Ellie is still sleeping this morning. Praise the LORD! I think we'll go visit her Great Grandma Tatum when she wakes up.
I'll be praying for Josie,
Robbie
I just hate it that Josie has been so sick...especially with the timing of school! That makes it SO HARD!!! I hope she is beginning to feel better. It truly is so hard to balance it all. I'm a stay home mom and have a hard time balancing it. I admire you so much for being able to work and do it! You just amaze me!!! I hope today is a much better day for you guys!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Buffi
Been praying today and waiting to hear the doctor's report.
