Vintage Picture Records

One of the many collections that I have in my craft room are these children's picture records. Produced in the late 40s and 50s, I collect them for their graphics and have them hanging on the bulk head.

This three little kittens album is my absolute favorite.

I recently came across a few more (at a decent price) to add to my growing collection. The graphics are on both sides of the records and are just delightful.

Although I don't play these vintage records on my turntable, I do have several albums that I do enjoy regularly...including several storybook albums that Josie looks forward to. Some of the albums were my own. Yes. I kept everything growing up.

I'm amazed at how inexpensive I've been able to pick these up lately at my local Goodwill. Definitely fun memories to share with my girls.

Happy Thrifting, everyone!

XOXO

  1. I had forgotten all about these records, though I don't think I ever had any. If I did and I learn they were thrown out I shall now be quite cross!

  2. Love the graphics! No wonder you have them on the wall, and no hangers needed.

  5. The genius that you are created a monster in me. I love to find these now...Although no sweet kitty one yet. We do have lots of similar ones....I hang mine with curtain pins what are you hanging them with? Monster Mash! Did a lip sync/ speech to that in middle school for speech and drama. Terribly hard for this shy girl. Heaven knows if I passed. Darling finds...smiles...Renee

  9. This is one of the cutest collections EVER! I loved listening to records when I was little, and still have some of them, but none are picture records. What a sweet way to decorate a room!

  25. AMAZING finds. I can't imagine them being in one of our GW or charity thrift shops. I would imagine an employee would grab them as soon as they came in the door. I rarely even see them in such good shape in an antique shop around here. I guess we were just rough kids in the midwest.
