I remember thinking at the time (15+ plus years ago) that $5 seemed like a lot of money to spend on a vintage book. It's now worth quite a bit more.
Produced in the 1950s, it includes an activity book and several pop-ups.
One of my favorite parts of this book is the board game that is on the last page of the book. Feel free to click on the image to enjoy your own game. I color copied this page and then laminated it onto a larger piece of construction paper.
Miniature ornaments, trees or tiny packages would make great game pieces.

ReplyDeleteHugs,
Very sweet.
ReplyDeleteWe went to an antique store the other day and I found a wooden doll house from the 70's but they were asking $249! That's crazy! I can't imagine anyone buying it for that price. You found yours for $10! See how lucky you are! That $5 book is likely a steal!
What a lovely Christmas book! I love the illustrations, and so colourful. It looks like it is in such good condition for it's age as well. The little game looks fun on the back..
ReplyDeleteI never saw that book before - sweet!
ReplyDeleteSo, what are you going to do with your vintage deer? You're so lucky to have found them in a thrift store. I bought mine at an antique shop in Vermont over the past summer. I knew I was paying too much, but once they were in my hands, I couldn't turn them away!!
ps Thanks so much for your sweet comments about mine. : )
I think this might be the sweetest book ever. The colors are so crisp. What a treasure. It has already been pinned over and over...smiles...Renee
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - this is magical. It sure was $5 well spent!
ReplyDeletewe always had a lot of christmas books when the kids were little. I have no idea where they ended up. but I used to love to cuddle up with all four kids and read to them and they loved it too. sometimes they'd all climb into my bed or we'd all pile onto the couch. awww.. now I miss that! but there are grandbabies! not they torry would sit still for a story yet.. but in a coupld of years! with that said.. I'm do not wish for that time to go by fast.. I want to keep hima baby for as long as we can!

I am obsessed with vintage stuff! LOVE these!!! Catching up on your blog and love all the Thanksgiving ideas. :) I made the banner from the link you sent me and it's hanging on my fireplace mantle and looking fabulous. :) I don't know if I will have time to try your other Thanksgiving ideas, but I sure do love them!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, those graphics are so great. Thanks for the game board!
ReplyDeleteI have my copy of Christmas in Fairyland , but I would like to have some history about it. I'm 69yrs old now and was told I about 5 years old when I received it. My mother saved the book but game is incomplete...no direction etc, the pop-ups still work. BUT, no publisher or author.
