Today's book is Little Miss Muffet and Other Nursery Rhymes, copyright 1956. It's a Rand McNally Elf Book, with illustrations by Mary Jane Chase.
While browsing through the book, I noticed several nursery rhymes that were unfamiliar.
Such delightful graphics.
Each week, I've tried to tie in a personal collection with a book illustration. Today's collection features my daughters' doll bed(s) collection and may look familiar to my followers. My mother (the talented seamstress) has always provided lovely bed linens for my girl's doll beds. Thanks, Mom!
It also became Emma's first doll bed (Christmas 1999)
The doll bed on the right was picked up in Wisconsin when I attended a conference and I had an opportunity to browse a local antique store.
This bed is another one of my childhood doll beds.
The cloth China dolls were purchased while in Guangzhou.

This last bed was picked up at my favorite local antique store where my mother gave it a complete make-over for Emma. She made beautiful bed linens, including a butterfly quilt and all new paint.
It's a good thing I have girls to justify my slight obsession...I mean collection.

Cute beds! I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am DROOLING over your pink doll beds! I am such a sucker for anything with a decal! Someday I'll have to show all my doll beds (and doll high chairs, and doll dressers, and doll wardrobes......).
ReplyDeleteAlso love your book this week- adorable illustrations!
Ooooh....ahhh! I need more pink for sure and certainly more decals. That book is amazing. Never have seen that one. Perfection in a post. Thanks for sharing. You made my morning...smiles...Renee
ReplyDeleteCuteness overload! I'd never heard those nursery rhymes either but the graphics are so fun. Have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteSo sweet!
Your doll beds are adorable!! I love the book too, 'specially poor little Pussycat Mew!
ReplyDeleteI love those precious doll beds! I need some for my dollies! Fun book, too! I still like to read poems aloud...children's rhymes are the best! Enjoy your day! I linked to the party today, too...thanks to you! ♥
ReplyDeleteLove those dolly beds! I've still got my doll bunkbeds from when I was little. Dolls have slept in them, cats have slept in them, my daughter's dolls slept in them, and now they're just sitting in the attic. I wish I had a bigger house, because then they would be down here for me to enjoy every day!
ReplyDeleteAll of it -- adorable!!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful "obsession!" You have a collection that will be treasured for years to come!
ReplyDeleteI recognized the "Coffee and Tea" nursery rhyme, but the others were new to me.
I really love your vintage book days!
Love little Miss Muffet's sweet little face! What a great copy...I've never seen it before.
ReplyDeleteThose doll beds are adorable...I have one that my Grandpa made for my Mom when she was little and I played with it when I was little too. I have one boy but I'm really hoping for a girl in the future because I want to play with it again! :-)
Happy Valentine's Day to you and your sweet family. What a cute header! What an even cuter post. Such love to be found here! Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteThose nursery rhymes were new to me too! Such a cute book. I loved the doll beds and the decals are so cute. The one that your mother painted is so special.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteThanks For your visit!
I love your vintage doll beds! So charming and sweet!!
Hugs,
Deb
Those decals on the beds are adorable. Wish they made them now. And you are very lucky to have girls. A boy just probably wouldn't appreciate his Spiderman sleeping in one of the beds.
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet little cradles! We found a little dolly bed for my daughter's dolls when she was young... it's still up in her room... I suppose that will stay here a few more years, until she settles down and buys a house. I see really cute little dolly beds and cradles at the shops from time to time and wish I could bring them all home with me, but I don't have a place for them.
