Soo much fun...

On Friday, we traveled over the Mackinac bridge and into the upper peninsula to Lake Superior State University in Sault St. Marie, MI.

Not a short journey (at times it felt ALL of the 5 hours) but the girls entertained themselves.

While I was teaching Friday night, Chris took the girls downtown to explore.

Don't you just love this motel sign?

After my work obligations were done on Saturday, we took the girls to the Soo Locks to watch the freighters pass through.

Watching the locks in action is truly amazing.

We were able to watch a Canadian freighter go through from an upper viewing deck.  Yes.  I did climb stairs to get to the upper deck.  I behaved the rest of the weekend though.

We were so close, we could hear their "salty"conversations.

We then ventured back over the Mackinac bridge towards Traverse city.

We spent Saturday evening on Traverse bay enjoying our first official beach experience of the season.

We live in such a beautiful state.

It was a lovely mother's day weekend.  A little bit of work.  A little bit of play. This upcoming week is going to be crazy with my work, attempting to get to Emma's three soccer games, and preparing for Emma's birthday sleep-over with 12 teenagers.  Home sweet home!

  4. Howdy Pretty Lady,

Well, it sounds like you had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend....you are truly blessed! I'm worried that you might be overdoing it on all the activities you're venturing on.....would your doctor approve?? I know, I'm such a nag in that department, and to tell you the truth, I always did way too much after each of my 14 surgeries. I was, and still am, a very bad girl when it comes to taking care of myself....forgeddaboudit!

Your state is a lovely one, and it's one to visit on my "bucket list." Not to mention that we see commercials out here, for Michigan, several times a day on many different channels. One spot in particular, that I dearly wish to visit, is Mackinaw Island. Ever since I saw that movie about romance and time travel, with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymore, it's been highly anticipated. Have a great week, and please be good to yourself.

    Big Hugs,
    Meri

  13. Oh, my! At this point in my life, it would take me more than one week to be prepared for a birthday party sleepover with teenagers!:-) I'm sure you will be ready.
It sounds like a really good week-end although you had to work for part of it. One place I would like to visit is Michigan, particularly that bridge!
    Have a good week!

  17. Hi Kim,
I am so glad that you received your necklace. I was so excited to send it to you.

I still have a few of your post to catch up on, but I will make it through!

We are seeing an excellent commercial down here about Michigan, and you know I always think of you. Yes, you do live in a beautiful state. One of these days I am coming to see you and then travel to Mackinaw Island!

Take it easy, you little daredevil! Of course I need to practice what I preach right now, don't I? :)

Good luck this week on your workshops, and don't overdo!

Hugs from one recouping mom and career gal to another,
    Cindy

  18. I love the motel sign. It's really great. You all look like you had such a fun time. I love the locks too-growing up in Chicago, I remember being on the CHicago River and waiting for the locks. So glad you had a nice Mothers Day weekend with your family.
