Plantation living in miniature...

A week ago, I teased you with a second dollhouse that came home with me from Allegan. As you can see, my newest plantation style dollhouse is HUGE!
  Like 9 windows HUGE!

 It's a plantation-style Rich Toys dollhouse made in 1942.

It's now my birthday present from my parents.  Thank you Mom and Dad!

It's in excellent shape.  The front porch light fixture, balcony, door  handle, doorbell and all the windows are still in working order.
It even came fully stocked with Nancy Forbes style furniture.
I've left all the original window treatments.

This is the living room.

The bathroom.

A bedroom

The master bedroom

The front entrance

The kitchen

For now, my Rich Toy plantation-style dollhouse is next to my Keystone dollhouse on top of my dining room hutch.

It's quite the stately neighborhood...wouldn't you agree?  I've asked Chris to build me a special shelving unit for my growing collection as birthday present.  Keep in mind that I have two other dollhouses in my craft room right now.  Between you and me, I might have to do a bit of weeding for this shelving unit.   Happy Playing!

  3. Beautiful! So nice that it still has all the items like doorknob, etc.! And the furnishings are so cute- lots of pieces I haven't seen before!! I'm sufficiently jealous (ha ha!), but my birthday's at the end of this month, and I've dropped a few hints about houses I'd like ;).

BTW, do you read "My Vintage Dollhouses" blog? She posted about an author looking for Rich houses to feature in an upcoming book. They're going to use one of mine- maybe one of yours is a style they don't have yet...

  4. Wow, what an amazing doll house, Kim! You are right, it is huge! Maybe Chris should build an addition on your home, rather than just a shelving unit, for your growing collection:)

  7. Wow, how cute is that? Happy birthday! I had seen a dollhouse at the flea market, and had to restrain myself from buying it. I have so much stuff already, and really no where to put it. I have opted to just make a few little rooms from boxes. :)

    Hugs,
    Debbie
