Visiting Frank and Mike in Iowa

Passing through LeClaire Iowa, we stopped off at Antique Archaeology in the hopes of seeing one of our favorite "pickers".

No such luck.
However, the store was open and we were able to explore (along with the rest of the tourists) their two room building.

It was fun to spot many of the antiques that we've watched Frank and Mike "pick".
Surprisingly, the store is very small and close to downtown.
On tv, it appears to be much larger and in the middle of nowhere.
Most of the antiques that are available to purchase are extremely pricey.
As  you can imagine, the store primarily caters their television merchandise.

We were happy that this stop was on our way home.
Sorry we missed you Frank and Mike.  Maybe next time!

  1. I would love to stop there as well..bummer on no Frank or Mike tho. I bet it is quite the tourist attraction and does not surprise me that the prices would be high on stuff. I always shake my head when I watch that show when they say how much they bought something for and then what they will sell it for..I think most of the time the price they sell it for would actually be higher. I do love those Laurel and Hardy heads.

  2. I know exactly where you were in these pics . . . Some nice shops in LeClaire . . . I'm thinking you might be home very soon . . . I have driven interstate 80 many a time . . . bet you saw a few corn fields too!

What do you think . . . is Route #66 a great trip to take?

  3. Sorry that Mike and Frank weren't around. Maybe they were out picking a honey hole somewhere. I always pictured their shop out in the Iowa countryside with cornfields around it. Who knew that tv wasn't entirely real?

  4. Sorry you missed Frank and Mike. I must admit that I am not familiar with them, though I would imagine their wares would be pricey. I must check into the TV schedule. xo Nellie

  5. I've never seen the show, but it looks like a neat place. I bet you're gonna need a week to recover from your vacation. Memories for a lifetime though and looks like they were all good ones.

  8. All of LeClaire is in the middle of nowhere, isn't it? The folks who live in the Quad Cities might not agree with me, though. ;-)
