When life gives you acorns...

You grab a glue gun and 40% off coupon from Michaels and make a fall wreath!
Josie and I went on an acorn hunt.
The acorns were glued onto a moss wreath base and then I sprayed the entire thing with a generous coating of clear spray.
My log cabin collection and a few stray bears have made their way onto the living room mantle.
The VERY large pine cones were in my grand parents basement years ago.
The doll-sized Adirondack furniture was purchased at the Allegan Antique market last summer.
The woods behind our home provided the rest of the smaller pine cones.
This mantle will be a short-lived display.
Soon enough Halloween will take over the house!
XOXO

  1. I love your wreath! Great idea with the acorns. It reminds me about the time I was like 15 years old and thought I was going to make potpourri. I collected a ton of acorns, put them in a Ziploc bag and forgot about it in my closet. I found it about a year later. Did you know that acorns sprout????? lol

  5. Your fall decor is so cute. I love the acorn wreath you made and the little log cabins. I can't quite get into fall mode yet, because it's still hotter than the dickens here. (Not like the oven roast we got last summer, but still high 90's, near 100 degree heat.) How I wish the pool was still open.

  13. Wow -- cool wreath! The squirrels are busily knocking down leaves and acorns at our house -- maybe I can nab some before they dig up the yard burying them! :)

Happy Monday -- already 95 in the office - no AC! :(

  14. It feels like fall in Yellowstone park on your mantel. I love it! I am going to do a more rustic Christmas theme this year and am going to use my vintage Yellowstone souvenirs on my mantel.

  17. What a sweet acorn wreath! There are no acorns available around where we live, nor at the neighbor's, either.

  21. Oh my goodness, I'm going to have to send you some pictures of the acorn wreaths I made last year- I saw them on someone's blog, and they were so cute! But they were a TON of work. Yours turned out perfect with your vignette!

  23. We crunched a bunch of acorns under our feet during our evening walk tonight..they all had the caps off and the squirrels had gotten to most of them. They would not looked quite as nice as yours on a wreath!

  25. Great fall mantel!

BTW, I love Eric's acorn story. I did a similar thing and mine grew mold. They were pretty nasty by the time I remembered about them.
