I grabbed them both. The colors are fantastic and a gentle cleaning has them smelling nice again.
The attic was full of boxes just waiting to be explored. An assortment of Christmas treasures came home. The Night Before Christmas book is dated from 1938. It's in rough shape, but the pages can be scanned and framed.I'm planning on giving the handmade felt stockings a slight makeover and will add them to the rest of my vintage stocking collection which will hang above my kitchen window.
Floral picks and a stray deer will be used in some type of future Christmas crafting project. The table runner is made of felt. I love the sweet snow people graphics.
I can never have enough reflectors and miniature trees. The pink angels have the sweetest little faces.Doesn't this light scream gaudy? I've got all kinds of plans to glam it up a bit more.
Last but not least, these three pixies were just hoping to be rescued. They are currently sitting in my craft room shelf waiting to get into all kinds of Christmas mischief!
Oh such great stuff! I love those pixies! I can tell you about those angels! I have three manger sets that include them. They are made of chalkware and sold in stores like Woolworths in the late 1940's & 50's. My Mom was engaged to my Dad at the time (1949) and bought a whole set for herself, her Mom, and future mother-in-law. The angels came in peach, pink or blue.As each grandparent passed, I asked for and received those sets! Mine still have their price tags on their bottoms. It wouldn't be Christmas here without them! You just hit the best sales there! I never find 1/4 of what you do! Maggie
ReplyDeleteYou do find some treasures! Love those little pixies too!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun . . . what are your plans for the crocheted quilts?
ReplyDeleteSomeone spent a few hours there!
I am amazed how you consistently find the treasures you enjoy week after week.
You find the greatest things! Have fun with the crafting:@)
ReplyDeleteOK, that's where all the vintage Christmas went to! Your pixies are adorable. Now that light . . . um . . . not sure it needs any more embellishment. It seems to have enough going on right now :)
ReplyDeleteYou have been so lucky on your estate sales. Great finds-love the table runner and the pixies. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had great fun. You found some really great treasures.

Oh how lovely! I would have grabbed those afghans too. In fact I did grab a very similar one a few years ago from an estate sale down the block. I made the mistake of washing it, and it apparently was wool. So... it shrank. But it's still big enough to help keep people warm when the weather turns cold and gray. I love the little pixies and bottle brush trees you found, too.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how much vintage Christmas stuff I have, I never pass up the chance to have more! Love all of your finds, and I can't wait to see what you do with that light!
ReplyDeleteYou always amaze me by going the last day of a sale and finding wonderful things~and then you transform them~you have a wonderful eye!
ReplyDeleteI came home with some goodies last week~but guess I am too lazy to post. Maybe later today.
Have a great week!
Awesome Christmas finds and I Love the afghan! My sister has one that is in the same colors. Our step dad's mother made one for each of us and we chose our own colors. ♥
ReplyDeleteI think I have good estate sales here and then I see your haul. Holiday high five to you and Chris!
ReplyDeleteAww, such great finds! Love the afghans and all the Christmas goodies!! Have fun with it all! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteI think you'll be needed a bigger house soon for all of your wonderful Christmas treasures, Kim! That granny square afghan brings back so many memories of when I was a young girl! I remember in the 4th grade, our teacher taught us all how to crochet them, even the boys!! And my sister and I had floppy granny square hats that my mom made us!!
ReplyDeleteWow, what awesome finds! I finally found a pair of white ice skates in Conover NC!! After two full Saturdays of searching antique stores and thrift stores! Hubby grabbed them up as soon as I pointed to them!! Can't wait till I can decorate the front porch and he hangs up all the Christmas lights!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Lynn
The pixies are so precious and I'm on the hunt for them again this year. So far I've found one head...the tiniest little pixie head I've ever seen! lol I love the old book and stockings you've found. I hope I can go 'hunt' tomorrow! Wish they would get more out in the thrift stores! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteAmazing treasures, Kim! You find the best bargains! xo Nellie

Hurray for pixie rescues! Although I don't like knee hugger elves very much, I am 100 percent in favor of pixies.
