Running errands, I noticed a handmade sign for an estate sale a block from the bank.
It was a family-run sale.
I think I sighed out loud when I saw the box of handmade Easter eggs sitting on a table in the garage.
One of the daughters explained that their mother enjoyed making these eggs and she had a tree that she decorated each Easter. I was happy to share with both daughters that I also have an Easter tree.
I promised them that I would take very good care of their mother's special eggs. I bought them all. One of the daughters actually hugged me on my way out.

These tiny wooden angel ornaments also came home with me.
They have already found their way onto my year-round pink feather tree in my craft room.
I also picked up this knee hugger witch and these Santa boots.
I was in and out of this sale in 10 minutes. I had no plans to find an estate sale on my way to the bank. What a lovely unexpected surprise in estate sale land!
Aren't those Easter eggs a rare find! And I've never seen a witch knee hugger. I collect the elves...or pixies as I call them but I've never seen one of these! How neat! I can't wait to get back to Florida and go to the thrift store! I'm in withdrawal! lol
ReplyDeleteThose are some of the best kind of Estate sales~the unexpected treasures you find! I stopped at one last week-saw the sign and decided to stop. Everything was a dollar unless marked differently. But the smell made me leave without anything. It was very sad. But you never know when you will find a great one!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend!
I seldom hear of estate sales in my neck of the woods. George and I spent Saturday in Vegas going to antique malls...I keep hoping to find the vintage things we love...but I just don't think that Vegas gets it. If I wanted tacky casino memorabilia or velvet Elvis paintings...or even moth eaten mink stoles I would be in luck. Next time I go down I will go back to the cute little shops in Boulder...that's where the Vintage is! I have never seen a witchy knee hugger...how fun is that? I did find a pumpkin like the one in your photo for $4...and a bunch of cookie cutters that I need for my neighbor gifts, so it wasn't a total bust!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise and they definitely found a good home.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's the best kind of estate sale. A surprise one! Your Easter tree is going to be extra full this year.

deb

Oh Kim, what a find! Love that all these special eggs found a new home with you, and will be given a place of honor on your Easter tree.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing find, the eggs are gorgeous! Never saw a witch knee hugger before-love it! Kinda funny, hanging colored plastic eggs off a plant in the livingroom is actually what got me started on the holiday trees! Have fun:@)

ReplyDeleteI have two hand made sugar Easter eggs with scenes in them, made in the early seventies. discolored with age, the gal that made them was such a talent . . .
I like the red boots too . . .
Congrats to Emma! These kinds of sales are the best. Those eggs are so pretty, and glad they went to a good home. My mother-in-law made lots of things like this. I know her needlepoint pictures went to a good home! ;)
