Now that school is out, Chris has been busy sanding and painting furniture acquired from estate sales for our a-frame cottage.
Many of you had asked me questions about the location and timeline of the cottage.
It's 45 minutes away, located on a 755 acre all-sports lake in the Newaygo area. Although we closed last week on the property, we officially take possession on 6/30.There's a chance the current owner might be out sooner and I'll admit that I've had fantasies of helping him pack up his stuff.
Although we have a list a mile long of all the things we want to redo, we'll be taking it slow.
Electrical and flooring is first. Goodbye shag carpeting! It's getting real, friends!
XOXO
How fun! Everything looks great and I'm really lovin' those two couches in the last pic! OMG, shag carpeting, how was that ever a good idea??? But we all had it:@)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you guys! So much fun to collect and redo. Just make sure you enjoy that lake too!
ReplyDeleteIt's like a big dollhouse to decorate!!! I love the paint colors you are using. And the couches are amazing. You find the best stuff at the estate sales.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be awesome and just think of the great new memories you will make up there. Have you named it???
ReplyDeletewarmly,

Let the fun begin . . .
ReplyDelete(looks like some of it already has!)
I am very happy and excited for you and your family!
Memory making days at the cabin are about to begin!
45 minutes is really the perfect time. Far enough to get away but close enough to make a quick weekend getaway without all the travel.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you, Kim! Wow, looks like you have a great stash of furniture for your cottage, I love their new paint colors. The 4th of July week will start off with a bang at your new place! Oh, you mean you aren't keeping the shag carpet?:)
ReplyDeleteA vaca home less than an hour from your home, brilliant! Love all the colorful redos. Go help him pack, lol. Don't you wish?
ReplyDeleteOur house had some red, white and blue pattern shag carpet when we bought it... just awful.
Wow -- love the "Afters" it's going to be so fabulous! Am sure you are counting down the days! :) Wish I was closer to help!
ReplyDeleteKim y'all are doing a great job with all the refinishing. Your little cottage is going to be the sweetest one on the lake.

ReplyDeleteONE WORD FOR YOU -----
ReplyDeleteSCRUMPTIOUSNESS!!!!!!
I hope the lifelong owners know how fortunate they are to have Kim, Chris, Emma, and Josie carry on the family tradition of love and affection for their special cottage.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are so YOU! Cheery and full of fun. I scrubbed the top of my new old enamel top table then used a Mr. Clean Magic eraser and it's perfect again! Can't wait to see what you do for curtains and the rest of the wall décor!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to see it all moved in and the magic begin. Hope to do the same thing someday to my "someday beach house".
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds so exciting! Love all the pretty redos! And those couches are so cute!! :) Have a wonderful day! xo Holly
