Winter outdoor adventures at the A-frame...

It was dark when we arrived to the A-frame Friday night after work.  As you can see, the recent snow storm also extended to the lake.
Determined that we would be skating on Saturday, Chris got busy snow blowing a patch of ice on the lake Friday night.  He was a man on a mission!
We woke up to a gorgeous pink sunrise Saturday morning.  No photo enhancing needed.
Josie even got to test out the hills on the side of the A-frame with her sled.
We are spoiled with our groomed/manicured ice in our backyard rink but no one can deny the view is much prettier at the lake for skating.
It's been a fabulous weekend of  outdoor winter adventures. We're definitely blessed.

  3. Ice skating sounds so fun! We skated a lot when I was growing up because there was a pond on our block.
I love that your family enjoys it so much!

  6. I bet it is nice to wake up there. I can imagine the smell of bacon, eggs and coffee.. and just relaxing. then out you go to skate and play.. then back in for hot choc and popcorn! and then something warm and yummy for dinner.. chicken and bisquits or spagetti and meatballs... or chili!
    enjoy!

  7. Perhaps some shock absorbers in your skates! Our grandkids are skating on the lake behind their house too, Logan got a hockey stick for his birthday, I think it's more for balance than gaming!

  9. Born and raised in CA, I am appreciating the beauty. While I have enjoyed a tiny bit of snow at our mountain home, I cannot imagine the amount of snow and cold you have. It is so pretty, and ice skating looks lovely.

  12. You are doing a great job of enjoying and making the best of winter. I did a lot of skating at a neighborhood pond as a kid. There were lots of hazards sticking up through the ice to trip us, ha ha, more challenging. :)

  13. These are the same kind of wonderful memories I have of my family's cabin in the woods, only my family's was in Gilmanton NY (Shellcamp Lake). My grandparents got a lot, then my folks got one in the '60s and built a 2 bedroom, tiny bathroom with chemical toilet & stall shower, with 'great room/kitchen' across front with front porch and side mudroom added later. We went up at the holidays and ice skated in winter with bonfires with hot chocolate, walks in the woods in snow, warm fire in wood stove, later we had snowmobiles and then, all summer we went up every weekend for swimming & fun. I have AMAZING memories and tons of pictures!! This brings it all back to me.

  14. Just gorgeous- the A frame just looks so cozy in the snow! And another personal skating rink!!!
I actually took my kids ice skating for the first time this weekend at the local ice rink- my oldest LOVED it, but my ankles didn't love it so much- it's been too long since I've skated! But I may have to brush up, because he's already asking to go back!
