All ABOARD!!!

This has literally been the summer of planes, trains and automobiles.

We've never taken this many trips in one summer EVER. I could easily get used to this.

Our Friday train leaves the Grand Rapids station at 6am and we arrive at Union Station in Chicago a mere four hours later.

One of the biggest reasons for traveling to Chicago is to visit the Harry Potter Exhibit at the Museum of of Science & Industry.

My husband is a HUGE fan of the books and movies. His Halloween costume has frequently been a character from the books. Doesn't he make a handsome Hagrid?

We're traveling with another family who is equally excited about the Harry Potter exhibit. For the last five years, Scott and my husband have been reading the Harry Potter series out loud during their lunch hour at their elementary school. Aren't they coolest guys!! They've even been known to dress in costume. Talk about dedication.

Also on the agenda is a visit to the American Girl doll store, Shedd Aquarium and visiting with dear friends who live in Chicago (love ya, Andrea, Andy and Alison).

Although we used to frequently drive to Chicago to visit our friends, we haven't been back to the windy city since Josie came home. I think she's really going to enjoy riding (let's be honest...running around) the train.

Here's to a fun weekend!! Stay tuned for pictures.

  2. I can't tell you how excited Ryan is. He can't wait to not only see a train up close, but to actually get on one, is blowing his mind.

  3. Have fun - we take the South Shore from Michigan City to Chicago all the time - can't beat it - $7 one way and on the weekends kids are free! We are hoping to go to the American Girl store in September for Maddie's birthday.

  7. Have a blast! This is our summer of least family travel ever - see what losing your job can reduce you too! But no worries.
