Blossom Painting (super easy craft for CNY)
Blossom trees are symbolic of the Chinese New Year. The blossoms represent courage and hope. While we were in Nanchang in the middle of March last year, it was so nice to see spring blossoms knowing that snow was still on the ground back home in West Michigan.
For this blossom tree painting you will need:
pink paint
paper
paint brush
black marker
optional: fine white or pink glitter
Instructions:
Step 1. Mix the paint with an equal part of water to paint. Take your clean (paint-free) paint brush, dip it in water, and paint your paper all over with water.
Step 2. Dot on the paint and watch the dots spread. When you are happy you have enough blossoms leave the picture to dry.
Step 3. When the paper is dry, draw in the branches of the tree with the black marker. You could even embellish the blossoms a bit more with a coating of glue and then sprinkle fine pink or white glitter.
We’re planning on framing our prints to keep them preserved and to keep the glitter from shedding everywhere.
Happy crafting!!
PS. When Emma and I worked on this craft, Josie was more interested in playing with her fisher price people than painting, but this is certainly a craft that is easy enough than toddlers can participate. A variation of this same craft could be to take the paint and dip your child's fingers in the paint and use their finger prints to make tree blossoms. I might do this with Josie this coming weekend. Stay tuned.
That is really beautiful. You are right, Kai and Chloe would enjoy doing this one. I can't wait to try it out!
