I purchased the cardboard house at Michael's in the Christmas supplies last season on clearance but you can find them again at Michael's and JoAnn's.
1. Paint your house black. Be generous with your paint. Especially if you are 5 years old. Hint. Be sure to cover your clothes and work surface with lots of newspapers.
2. Let paint dry and then cover the roof with white glue (using a brush) and sprinkle generously with glitter. We used orange glitter on the roof and windows and door. We did one side of our roof at a time (allowing time to dry in between).
Speaking of miniature haunted houses. I have to share Renee's (My Vintage Mending) haunted house. We recently participated in an ornament swap and I was happy to receive this special little dwelling.
Her ruffles and Halloween picks are the perfect touch.
I'm addicted to little houses.
On Sunday afternoon, Emma and I ventured to Michael's.
We came home with this.
All their wood products are on clearance right now.

I am so glad that you got one of the houses as you know I struggled with them so. But in the end they came out almost as cute as Miss Josies. Love the castle. Just cant seem to get enough of the house that scale either. Have a great week..smiles...Renee
ReplyDeleteCute project-great job, Josie!
ReplyDeleteI heard about the castle at Michael's-and saw that adorable witch at Target! That is going to be terrific for Halloween!
Thanks for sharing! Now I need to resist....
Cute ideas! The castle is amazing. Can big kids play with them???
ReplyDeletelove the haunted houses! all of them! I have two doll houses that Ive been thinking about transforming for years, one into a halloween party house and the other into a christmas house. I will one of these days.. wont be this year though. I should just start collecting things for them now though.
ReplyDeleteI Love the mini lalaloopsy witch.. I have her on my computer at work!

Whenever I see great deals like that castle you found at Michaels, it makes me so sad. We have Michaels in Canada but they have chosen to locate outside city centres in very inaccessible locations (it may be a good think for my wallet though, whenever I go I become a hoarder). I really love miniature houses, wood or cardboard - great work josie!
ReplyDeleteYour little girl is so crafty as well and your blog is indeed the Halloween Central of blogland. My Halloween decorations this time won't be much as I'm preparing for Christmas already but I'm going to add a couple of mice silhouettes and ofcourse will try this house.
ReplyDeleteLoved the ruffles below the house. Very cute.
Kim,
ReplyDeleteI am in love the your mini houses... both the ones you created and the one you received in the swap!!
How cool is that!!
Hugs,
Debbie
So cute!! Like Mother, like daughter, eh!!
ReplyDeleteJanet

ReplyDeletewhat a great idea on your projects!
ReplyDeletelove the haunted castle:)
Those turned out soooo cute! You are so crafty!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Josie's house is just adorable. She certainly looked like she enjoys her crafting time! I also love the house ornament. So very cute!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I love those houses!! I will have to try those! I can't wait to see how you do the castle! I picked up that same little witch at Target!! I have orange hair too, (it is naturally orange LOL some people call it red, but it always has looked orange to me) so I had to have her!
ReplyDeleteIf you have time, please stop by my blog and let me know what you think about my holiday decor. I have gotten so much inspiration from you and the other blogs that I visit! I have a use I want list because of all the cuteness I see on your blogs. Also, if you could show how to decorate the owls and ravens I would really appreciate it!
Hugs,
Lynn
ps, I have a bunch of new Halloween flavor Avon lip balms that I purchased from my niece when she was selling Avon. I bought a bunch to hand out at work and well I was unable to go back to work due to the multiple back surgeries and constant severe back pain that they left me with. So, I would love to send some for your girls, if you don't mind, please email me your address and I will get them in the mail.
Love Josie's haunted house, and the castle is going to be fantastic! Last time I was at Target with my daughter, I wanted to get a few of those Lalaloopsys. But she's 22, and even though I tried to explain to her that you're never too old for dolls, we didn't get any!
ReplyDeleteSooooooo CUTE!!! The glitter is the perffect touch Miss Josie :)
ReplyDeleteAll of them are so cute!
ReplyDeleteJosie is super cute!
That haunted castle looks like so much fun!
I'd play with that!
Haunted houses and castles... each one just as fantastic as can be. (Isn't Renee wonderful?)
ReplyDeleteAnd your little Josie looks like she is having such a wonderful time!
Josie's house is adorable. And Renee's is very festive. I have some Christmas houses, but never thought to make some Halloween houses before.
ReplyDeleteI've stuck to your mini House … those who have created and what you get in return!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic!
