Post surgery updates...

Thank you for all the sweet comments regarding my surgery. It helped knowing that I had friends and family praying and thinking of me.

I was surprised at how fast Friday's foot surgery went. We had to be at the hospital by 6am and we were home by 11:15am. The surgeon ended up doing some additional work that I didn't plan on, but it explains why my foot hurt so bad. Chris said the before and after x-rays are quite impressive looking.

I spent yesterday afternoon sleeping off the drugs and by the evening, I was ready to eat some dinner and watch movies with the girls. I even managed to sneak in a few blogs last night. I'm sure I'll be spending this afternoon doing more blog hopping.

I had been told that day 2 would be the hardest day and I'm not going to lie. My foot hurts something "wicked awful". I can feel my heartbeat in my foot.

OUCH!

Getting used to the crutches has been interesting. I'm definitely going to be building up some arm and shoulder muscles.

The cats have taken turns sleeping on my lap.

I think they sense something isn't quite right.

Maybe they are just taking advantage of the fact that I'm sitting still for a change and I have a cozy blanket on my lap.

The girls and Chris have been very good at taking care of me. Just look at the basket filled with fun reading material that was waiting for me when I came home!

I also have to say thank you to Donna (My Shabby Chateau) who sent me a lovely package filled with crafting supplies and the most darling card. She also made me a lovely plaque (which I forgot to take a picture of). I'm so spoiled.

Even my neighbor came over last night with a fun gift basket too.

Thank you Laura!

I'll be back tomorrow with some very exciting news (not foot related). Josie had a major milestone happen within the last 24 hours!!

It's almost time...

My foot surgery is scheduled for Friday
(the start of spring break for Chris & the girls).

2 weeks of limited mobility and at least 6 weeks of crutches.
(now I'm wishing I would have done more upper body training).

I'm not good at sitting still.
(my husband can't wait).

My family has promised to wait on me.
(cutting back at work and household duties sounds kinda fun).

I'll be going through serious crafting/thrifting withdrawal
(but I'll have lots of time to catch up your blogs)

I'll promise to post an update in a few days.

Can you tell I'm pretending to be brave? Eek!

Easter basket fillers & Easter table decorating ideas

In case you have little girls that enjoy Hello Kitty, Michael's currently has a few special Hello Kitty items marked at $1 apiece near their $1 toys area.

They'd be perfect for Easter baskets.

I'm all about "cute packaging" and I came across these chocolate bunnies at Target in their Easter candy aisle. They are $1.99 a piece. The foil on the rabbit is extremely realistic looking. Very sweet.

Don't forget Aldi's for their pretty foil candy too.

The Dollar Tree currently has packages of favor boxes that I jazzed up with some vintage images available on ImagiMeri's blog.

I just added some glitter, crepe paper ruffles and ric rack. They would make darling mini Easter baskets, or pretty favors on an Easter table.

Speaking of Easter table favors, I'm also sharing another fairly simple project that I did last year. Using plastic Easter eggs, I made favor cups for our Easter table.

Supplies:
Easter eggs
Glue gun
Easter grass
cardboard
Fuzzy chicks
Pipe cleaners
Rick rack and mini flowers (optional)

1. Cut out cardboard square pieces and apply hot glue to the center of the cardboard and spread Easter grass over the glue.

2. Take a part the plastic Easter egg and attach with glue gun to the grass/cardboard.

3. Add rick rack around the diameter of the egg and cut a a pipe cleaner in half and attach with glue gun to the interior of the egg.

4. I then hot glued a coordinated fuzzy chick on the handle of each basket and added a tiny silk flower.

5. The final touch was to print off name tags and attach with hot glue to the plastic egg.

6. Don't forget to fill with your favorite Easter candy!

Happy Easter!
Happy Crafting!

XOXO

Lighting the way for the Easter bunny!

Josie helped me dust off our special outdoor illuminated Easter bunny last night.

He looks rather handsome with his
brand new pale blue neck ribbon.

And I wanted to cut back on Easter decorations this year. What was I thinking?

Please share your postal address and I'll get your special goodies in the mail. For everyone else, I love giving away my creations as much as I enjoy making. Plan on additional vintage inspired give-away opportunities in the future.

Felt Eggs - Inspiration from Viv!

Just in case you are out shopping, I wanted to share an Easter idea with you. A few weeks ago, my blogging friend Viv posted about felt eggs that are currently available at Target on this post. Then, when she sent me her lovely Easter creations using these same felt eggs, I knew I had to run out and get some for myself.

Aren't they divine!?!

The bag is filled with large and small felt eggs. I decided to use the smaller eggs and decorate them with some miniature wooden Easter egg ornaments and vintage millinery flowers. Be sure to hot glue a button on the base so that your eggs don't roll around!

These little cuties will be taking up residence
at our Easter brunch.

Thanks for the inspiration, Viv!

My Easter Tree Reveal!

A confession.

A week ago, I had suggested to my family that I wouldn't be pulling out all the Easter decorations for our sunroom tree this year. Foot surgery on March 30th is going to keep me away from the storage area of our basement and I felt it would just be easier to not worry about it.

As you can imagine, that idea was quickly vetoed (even by my 13 year old). Everyone has agreed to help put decorations away and so with great enthusiasm, we decorated the tree last night!

Renee...your Easter garland is the perfect addition this year!

Have a lovely weekend.
Happy Easter!

Lil' Vintage StoryBook and Easter Baket Collection!

It's Friday and so it's time for another Lil' Vintage Story Books Link Party.

Today's book (The Funny Bunny Factory) is one of my favorites because of its delightful illustrations.

Copyright 1950 by Grosset & Dunlap, written by Adam Green. Illustrated by Leonard Weisgard. In this colorful tale, hundreds of bunnies take up residence in an abandoned factory.

Inside the factory, they find sugar eggs,

penny candy

toys

and one little bunny finds carrots!

This week's collection features my vintage Easter baskets.

One of my favorite baskets includes reproduction German eggs.

Another holds honeycomb eggs and flocked chicks.

Another basket is filled with glass eggs
decorated with vintage millinery flowers

Another holds a plastic egg decorated
with sweet bunnies.

Don't forgot to visit Corey Moortgat's blog for more great vintage books and illustrations. She's currently featuring her daughter's vintage-inspired bedroom. It's simply ADORABLE!! Filled to the brim with all kinds of vintage girly items.

Happy Friday!
Happy Easter!
