When Chris and I went away for our 20th wedding anniversary, we hit several antique stores. Yes. I realize that I'm lucky that my husband doesn't mind exploring antique stores with me. Hidden on the floor, under a large table, was a rather large bag of 1930s Strombecker dollhouse furniture.
I've had this empty wooden dollhouse in my craft room just waiting to be filled.
With it's green/red graphics, this dollhouse frequently makes an appearance at Christmas on my sunroom shelf.
I decided over the weekend to remove the roof and give the interior a clean-up and light coat of new paint.

The roof also got a fresh coat of stain.

For now, I'll show you the finished living room.
I'm currently on the hunt for the missing Strombecker bathroom pieces, as well as a few lamps and a floor radio. I figure its only fair that I have my own wooden dollhouse after giving both Josie and Emma several dollhouses of their own. Heck, I could have worse addictions than dollhouse furniture!! For more pictures of the girls dollhouse collections, see this album. I promise to share more pictures as the rest of my special house comes together.
Lee - Thank you for that wonderful box of dollhouse accessories. They will be coming in handy! Happy playing, friends!
Oh my goodness, I love all that furniture and your house is too cute! And thank you for the link to the furniture, you solved a very old question for me. I was given a red wooden dollhouse couch by one of my aunts over 30 years ago for my little Holly Hobbie dolls. I loved that thing so much and still have it. The paint is faded, but I love it all the more for that. I always wondered if it was homemade or part of a set. Now I know!! Thank you so much. And I will now be on the hunt for more. My youngest daughter got a big dollhouse for Christmas and we are slowly decorating it.

Wow -- you hit the jackpot -- how adorable!! Yes, you definitely should have your very own dollhouse! :) Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI just love that house, and you really scored on your furniture! So, so sweet! Before I got involved with all of this madness, I only knew of the standard modern dollhouse furniture, which didn't do a whole lot for me. But upon discovering the older vintage stuff, I've just fallen in love! There's such a sweetness to it, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you emailed me about this post-I've been so behind on checking in on blogs, etc. lately-I probably wouldn't have come across this post for a few more days!
A whole bag full? That's terrific ... oh, the fun you're going to have!
ReplyDeleteStop now. I am just checking in on the drive and this is so cute. I do hope I left enough room in the car for some great goodies. One of the kids can walk home right? This is gorgeous...Love Emma's pics yesterday, That hat is darling...smiles..Renee
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love the sweet dollhouse furniture you rescued from the bag under the table. And the dollhouse itself couldn't be any cuter either! I can't wait to see the post spruce-up photos. You've put a big smile on my face this morning.

Enjoy your week~we are heading to Petosky today.
That is such a cute dollhouse. The furniture is really nice too. It's hard to find pieces in antique stores anymore so you are a lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting to read, I am just about to refinish the dollhouse my grandfather made for me when I was little, that my daughter plays with now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration!
I can't think of a cuter addiction! Have fun! :)
ReplyDeleteScore on that bag of dollhouse furniture! This is not a bad addiction.....
ReplyDeleteOur anniversary is this Sunday, I think I shall tell my beloved that one of my blogging pals got 'new furniture' for her anniversary! Tee hee! I have grown tired of my 15 year old living room furniture but sadly, I think it's gonna be around a long while yet!
