Paper snowflakes...

Like everyone, our hearts have been heavy since the horrible news broke on Friday.

Paper Snowflake templates can be found on Kinderart .

Those children were Josie's age.

My husband is an elementary school social worker.

It's such a horrible evil act that doesn't have any explanation.

We've been trying to shield the girls from the news as much as we can.

Providing a sense of normalcy by keeping our annual tradition of watching Elf, cutting paper snowflakes and indulging in sweets.

Sending prayers upward for the families, friends, and the townspeople of Connecticut.
It's one of those times when words don't do justice to the hearts feelings.

  1. Yes, Kim. Words are so inadequate. Continued prayers for those affected by the tragedy in Connecticut on Friday.

I appears that things are moving along well there with paper snowflakes. Is the cat happy - or annoyed? It isn't always easy to determine with cats.:-)

    Hugs,
    Nellie

  17. Hi Kim - We live about 30 miles from Newtown in Northville, CT now, but used to live in Southbury, CT for over 12 years which is a neighboring town. Our hearts are broken and we all ask the same question...WHY?? The area where we live is so peaceful, picturesque and quiet. We have all learned that it can happen anywhere! We are holding prayer vigils, we are organizing pancake breakfasts, making signs of encouragement and love for the families and the town etc. So glad you aren't overdoing the news coverage with your daughters - I hope you and your beautiful family have a blessed Christmas Hugs, Dorinda

  19. You guys are doing the right thing, by trying to keep things normal for your children. Making paper snowflakes sounds perfect to me!
I did not know that your husband was a social worker. So is my daughter. She really enjoyed a summer practicum working in a school setting, and may return to that someday. Right now she's working with children and families in distress... it's "heavy" work for a 24 year old.
