This afternoon I'll be in her classroom co-teaching a Chinese New Year lesson with another special Mom who also has an adopted child from China.
Josie and I spent Sunday evening preparing her Lucky Money red envelopes (filled with chocolate gold coins) to share with her classmates. I also found Chinese fireworks candy at Oriental Trading company.
More pictures coming Wednesday!
How terrific! Josie is going to have a wonderful celebration! Maggie/Maggie's Lil' Fixins

and Josie's smiles . . .(braids too!)
My goodness you've been having a lot of fun. Please tell Josie I told her "Happy New Year." My first husband was Persian, so my children are half, and the Persian New Year is always the first day of spring, so now I have three New Years to keep track of. I just can't tell you how special you are for keeping Josie's culture alive for her.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless,
Meri
How cute she is :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great way to share the culture with Josie's class. I'm so glad you Mom's take the time to do this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun opportunity to open up the world for ALL the kids in the classroom. They will remember this for years to come.
ReplyDeleteI have learned so much about Chinese culture from your blog. So many things I didn't know. I have a new appreciation for the rich traditions of Josie's native land. She is such a lucky little girl...she will always know who she is. I remember little things that made me feel special as a child...and I am still grateful for what I learned about my heritage.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun. I bet te kids are going to love it!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful!! Have a fun day!! xo Heather
