Last backyard ice skate of 2013....

The HUGE snow piles are finally melting and rain showers are in the forecast for later this weekend.
Unless the weather drastically changes once again, I "think" we had our last backyard ice rink skate Tuesday night. The ice is awfully slushy right now.

Hard to believe this little peanut was holding a chair back in January to skate and now she can play hockey with my husband.

We've learned a lot about the care and maintenance of a backyard ice rink.

As you can imagine, Chris is already plotting all kinds of improvements (and additions) for the next winter season.  I captured some fun video of Josie's ice skating progress. This was shot Tuesday night.

Goodbye ice rink, you've been a good friend.

  2. Ah, so sad to see it melt. I think you have a hockey player on your hands instead of a figure skater. She's getting around pretty well on the skates now. Probably better than I could do.

  4. Well with the end of the rink comes spring. It will return next year...and it sounds like new and improved. I have enjoyed reading about it...wish I could have given it a whirl in person

  6. There are many who are really happy to have winter winding down. Hopefully there won't be snow for Easter. It isn't that long from now!

  13. I will be thinking of you as I am off to work tomorrow. I will take a minute to think of Chris too while I am knee deep in mulch and mud. My kids loved seeing the ice rink and think that dad of yours is amazing....way to go Josie...smiles..Renee
