Kittens and bird nests...a few thrifty finds!

It's been a long work/family week. Friday seriously can't get here fast enough!
I haven't shared any thrifty finds in a while.  I picked up this 1958 Golden book because the kittens in the story reminded me of our very curious Luna.  At .50 cents, this thrifty find has been a big bedtime hit.

It's illustrated by Alice and Martin Provensen.  Throughout the story, the kittens (Brush and Hush) have many great adventures mixing paint together to make new colors. Super sweet illustrations.

In other thrifty news, if you happen to be near a World Market, they have these bird nests on clearance with their Easter decor.

They come in blue, pink and yellow (I picked up one of each).   You can order them online here.

I'll be back on Friday to show you how I've dressed up their nests.

Here's a teeny tiny peek. Viv - Skip my Friday post if you want to be surprised.

  12. You always find the most adorable treasures, Kim! I am in love with your vintage book, those kitties are darling! And so are those little birdies, they are just too cute! Thanks for the tip, I've been looking for nests, but the ones I see are either pretty skimpy, or are more $ than I want to spend!

  19. My sisters and I loved that book when we were growing up! The Provensen's are among my favorite illustrators! I still have a childhood piano song book and a bible storybook illustrated by them. One of my sisters must have the Color Kittens, because I know it's not in my children's bookshelf. (Yes, a whole bookshelf of kiddy lit. If I'm not careful, my house might get mistaken for a bookstore.)
