A dressed up nest...

We have several busy birds building nests in our yard right now.

Chris and the girls won't be shooting baskets for awhile.

Excuse the ugly gray pictures.  It's been a very cold, blustery and rainy week in MI.  When I was home last week on the girls K-12 spring break, I worked on several different projects including a special bird nest for my dear friend Viv.  I posted about these nests currently on discount on World Market yesterday.

My little blue birds are now having a spring party.

Their festive party hats are made from birthday present bows.

I cut the loops off the bow and hot-glued the ends together to form a cone.  I then glued tiny pom poms, some fringe, and added a bit of glue and glitter.  Tiny forget-me-knot flowers were also glittered and added to the nest along with bead letters.

I had so much fun dressing up my nest, I have plans to decorate my pink bird nest for a spring give-away.

Be sure to check back soon!   Happy Friday! Happy "almost" weekend!

  1. Love to hear the birds singing and see them busy making their nests -- now, if only they could convince the warmer weather to stick around -- snow yesterday!!!! OY

    TGIF!! Happy weekend!

  2. We have these annoying morning doves out here that have this really cool bird call. They are annoying because they're basically stupid, clumsy birds and fly into oncoming traffic or windows all the time. They are horrible nest builders and make huge messes when they try to make one. It's a wonder they survive at all. Don't you dare forget to come visit us when you come out west pretty lady. Your nest is adorable and Vivvie's gonna love it.

    Hugs,
    Meri

  5. I've never seen more festive birds! They are adorable. I'm sitting here thinking about making a bunting for a little fairy garden I'm making, so now you've pushed over the edge. I need a bunting of my own! Too funny about the birds nest on the basketball hoop!

  7. OH, love the way your nest turned out! The blue spool underneath is the perfect "stand"! We had a nest of cardinals in a tree for the past 2 years, and I've been waiting to see if they'd return this year. It looks like probably not, since I think they'd be there by now. How fun for you to have several nests to watch!

  10. I meant to email when you I went to World Market in Feb and saw all the adorable Chinese cute stuff; glad you have one by you. The wide mouthed birdies are too sweet, now maybe a gummy worm for them?? The swag of tiny pendants and the perch of crochet floss is brilliant!

  19. Kim, these are just the cutest bird nests ever! I will have to hobble my way to World Market next week. I can't believe a bird made such a large nest in your basketball hoop. Wow! We are still waiting for buds on our trees here in Ohio. The grass is very green; so hopefully soon! Have a lovely weekend. Elizabeth

  24. Oh Kim, I just love your bird nest! It is just very creative. We have some sort of nest going under the eaves and it's made of mud. The parents were tap, tap, tapping, and now that has stopped, so there must be eggs now.
