We have several busy birds building nests in our yard right now.
Chris and the girls won't be shooting baskets for awhile.
Excuse the ugly gray pictures. It's been a very cold, blustery and rainy week in MI. When I was home last week on the girls K-12 spring break, I worked on several different projects including a special bird nest for my dear friend Viv. I posted about these nests currently on discount on World Market yesterday.
My little blue birds are now having a spring party.
Their festive party hats are made from birthday present bows.
I cut the loops off the bow and hot-glued the ends together to form a cone. I then glued tiny pom poms, some fringe, and added a bit of glue and glitter. Tiny forget-me-knot flowers were also glittered and added to the nest along with bead letters.
I had so much fun dressing up my nest, I have plans to decorate my pink bird nest for a spring give-away.
Be sure to check back soon! Happy Friday! Happy "almost" weekend!
Love to hear the birds singing and see them busy making their nests -- now, if only they could convince the warmer weather to stick around -- snow yesterday!!!! OY
ReplyDeleteTGIF!! Happy weekend!
We have these annoying morning doves out here that have this really cool bird call. They are annoying because they're basically stupid, clumsy birds and fly into oncoming traffic or windows all the time. They are horrible nest builders and make huge messes when they try to make one. It's a wonder they survive at all. Don't you dare forget to come visit us when you come out west pretty lady. Your nest is adorable and Vivvie's gonna love it.

Meri
Love the basketball nest . . . probably a Mi bird nesting for a better season next year . . .
ReplyDeleteThey were cute before and now look at the cute party hats and fun nests! Love the little banner for the finishing touch! Enjoy your day and the weekend ahead. I hope that sunshine comes out soon! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen more festive birds! They are adorable. I'm sitting here thinking about making a bunting for a little fairy garden I'm making, so now you've pushed over the edge. I need a bunting of my own! Too funny about the birds nest on the basketball hoop!
ReplyDeleteThese are too cute! You are so very clever, such great ideas! chris
ReplyDeleteOH, love the way your nest turned out! The blue spool underneath is the perfect "stand"! We had a nest of cardinals in a tree for the past 2 years, and I've been waiting to see if they'd return this year. It looks like probably not, since I think they'd be there by now. How fun for you to have several nests to watch!
ReplyDeleteYour little birdies in the nest are so sweet, I love the detailed work. The little hats are too cute!
ReplyDeleteOur birds around our house have building nests too, love watching them, with their mouths full stuffing more and more in the houses! Your little nest you made looks so cute and fantastic!! :) Hope you have a wonderful day! xo Holly
ReplyDeleteI meant to email when you I went to World Market in Feb and saw all the adorable Chinese cute stuff; glad you have one by you. The wide mouthed birdies are too sweet, now maybe a gummy worm for them?? The swag of tiny pendants and the perch of crochet floss is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!! I might just have to go to WM today and see if they have any sweet nest left!! Happy Friday! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteCUTE as can be! Love the ball of thread for the base. Very creative!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that you are going to have some baby birds this spring! It will be fun to watch them.
Happy weekend!
Warmly,
deb
p.s. we have SNOW and it's COLD! I'm sad :(
Those are so cute! Just the thing for this gray weather!
ReplyDeleteHooray for signs of spring! The basketball nest is a hoot!
ReplyDeleteLove your nest and banner! So cute!
Hope you have a great weekend!
OMGosh, Kim! How very, very cute. I absolutely LOVE bird's nests! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you have a spring nest in your yard. I am hoping we will have such a special experience this spring. It has been a slow start to spring with a 48 hour ice storm., Thursday and Friday!
ReplyDeleteViv is going to love her nest, great work, those birdies are just precious. Wishing you a crafty weekend!
The little birds have found safety there in your yard. You are right... no basketball for a while. You have made such a sweet little spoolie bluebird nest! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's encouraging that the birds think it's spring! So done with the cold weather. Hopefully you will get to see eggs and baby birds in those nests! :)
ReplyDeleteKim, these are just the cutest bird nests ever! I will have to hobble my way to World Market next week. I can't believe a bird made such a large nest in your basketball hoop. Wow! We are still waiting for buds on our trees here in Ohio. The grass is very green; so hopefully soon! Have a lovely weekend. Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteyour nest is soooo cute. I love anything with a party hat.
ReplyDeletewe have only one barn swallow nest so far and will try to keep it at one this year. I love the swallows but they can make a big mess
How precious!! Love the nest on top of the ball of thread. So creative. Darling!

Oh my word, Kim! Those little hatchlings are so cute, but your embellishments took them to new levels of extreme cuteness!
ReplyDeleteYour little birdie is just so adorable, Kim! Only you would think to make a party hat from a bow, what a great idea! I love the banner too, and those sweet vintage forget me nots. It's just darling!! Oh, and of course I am crazy about the pom poms and glitter:)
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, I just love your bird nest! It is just very creative. We have some sort of nest going under the eaves and it's made of mud. The parents were tap, tap, tapping, and now that has stopped, so there must be eggs now.
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutesy nest. I love that you made the hats from bows cut up. Genius! We've been outside working in the yard-it's been so springy!
ReplyDeletewhen they get they house clean, they should have a little teaparty!
ReplyDeleteI seriously need to clean my real house... especially my craftroom!
have a great day Kimmie!
xoxo
