It's difficult to catch a tricky leprechaun, but I decided to capture one for Viv's Leprechaun swap.
Using a leprechaun graphic available on this post at the Graphic's Fairy, my leprechaun has been trapped under a plastic wine glass cloche.
I purchased my plastic wine glasses from the Dollar Tree. The nice thing about these particular disposable wine glasses, is that you can easily detach the base from the stem of the glass. After I separated the base from the glass, I coated the the base of the glass with white glue and added lots of fine gold glitter. The leprechaun and a few other embellishments were glued in place before the rim of the plastic wine glass got a coating of hot glue and the leprechaun was secured inside.
Gold trim and a green pipe cleaner were used to decorate the glass base and glass stem.
Folklore is that if you catch a leprechaun he will lead you to his pot of gold and give it to you as a bribe to let him go. I'm still waiting for that pot of gold. Smile.
Well, Isn't that the cutest thing ever? HOW did you get the base off the glass? What a fun thing to make, Kim! Love it- xo Diana
