I'll fill in the blanks of our Route 66 trip in the next blog post. For now, I have to share pics from Sunday night's hotel in Springfield Illinois. It was totally vintage...right down to the $65 room rate.
In case you're in Springfield Illinois, this establishment is charming. It's not fancy by-any-means, but it provides all kinds of Route 66 charm right down to the 50s diner located inside the hotel.
We've traveled 1,500 miles in 4 days. It's been a whirlwind trip from Michigan to Missouri back to Michigan again. This was our last big summer 2012 vacation splurge, but it was well worth the mileage.

Now, everyone gather 'round the TV and watch Cars and Cars 2 from Pixar! You'll love it and be ready to look at all your pix and enjoy the memories of a drive on the Mother Road!

One of our best family vacations was a road trip from California to Missouri. Looks like you had a great time! That hotel looks awfully cute!
This is the most amazing trip. I have traveled that route nearly yearly and never stopped at these spots. What I have missed. In my own backyard! Thank you for opening my eyes. Smiles...Renee
What fun! It is something those girls will remember long after they are grown up. I love your "tour". xo Diana
Oh, my 'seat' is sore hearing about that many miles but what fun! Always good to make memories.
Our sons still talk about our car trips out west, even though all I remember is stopping the car to leave one of them after his bad behavior! LOL
Safe travels home!
What a fun trip! Looks like you hit all the neat spots!! xo Heather
What???? You didn't take it all the way down here and visit me...well almost visit me. It goes through Flagstaff which is only 2 hours away. Maybe next summer you can complete the whole thing!
Hugs,
Meri
