My estate-sale haul...

Technically, I've benefited from estates sales due to my K-12 hubby's summer schedule. I tend to frequent thrift stores and antique stores on the weekend when I'm not at my big girl job. Last Saturday, we didn't have Varsity Band Competition obligations and there was an estate sale that advertised vintage toys and vintage holiday treasures within minutes from our house.  It was the second day of the sale and everything was 1/2 off.  It didn't disappoint.

Here's what came home with me.

Another Chinese checkers to add to my ever-growing collection in my craft room.  I couldn't pass up the $2 price tag!

I'm always crafting with bingo cards and the graphics on these boxes are just delightful.  I couldn't resist the metal sandpail shovel either at $2.

Darling coloring books at .25 cents.

Hand-stitched doll clothes and hats at $1.

A stash of vintage Christmas just waiting to be re-purposed!  The felt stockings even have the names of the original children (Tom and Susan) on the back.

I couldn't turn away this elf...especially because he's holding a toadstool.  He will be right at home with my pinecone Christmas elves.

These matchboxes will be used in future Christmas projects.  Imagine the time that went into making them.

Wrapping paper bundles for $1.  I couldn't resist.

Boxes of Christmas ornaments at $1.  My sister will benefit from my ever-growing stash.
Never one to pass up a bargain on aprons, I couldn't leave these behind at $1 a piece.  They aren't fancy but they needed to be saved.
Josie's loves playing with this rotary phone, but I have plans to temporarily decorate it for HALLOWEEN.  Stay tuned.

Last but not least, we picked up these stack of 1968 restaurant menus.  Josie loves playing restaurant with her stuffed animals and dolls and they were a bargain at 5 for $1.

All in all, a great day of estate-sale shopping. I've definitely gotten the estate-sale bug.

  15. At those prices I understand the bite that you got! The vintage coloring books here would be a buck each and never would I find left-over Christmas the half price day! See what happens when Junk Bonanza is in your back yard!? You scored big time! I paid 6.00 for a shovel with no picture, just rust!

  17. Isn't the estate sale bug the best?? I love the decorated matchboxes!! We have some great sales around Silicon Valley, but they are often missing the vintage Christmas items, tin, and childrens' books. We see lots of vintage tablecloths, dishes etc. Maybe we could swap houses one weekend!!

    Best chris

    Terrific haul!
I have stepped away from even reading blogs but missed it immensely. Our sons have gone home and I have recovered...somewhat. Wait until you see what I have been doing!
