Queen Anne's Lace

Back in February I shared some pictures of the land behind our home on this post.  

It's gorgeous throughout the various seasons.  

Currently, it's filled with lots of Queen Anne's Lace/weeds.

We've found that pants and long sleeves are necessary when exploring.

Soon the leaves will be changing.

Summer has gone by much too fast.
   

They're blooming!

I seem to have a lot of posts about nature lately.
Maybe it has something to do with working
from home while on medical leave??
Regardless, I was excited to see our lilacs in bloom.

 We have a few varieties of lilacs (including a Miss Kim lilac).  
This one is your standard Purple Persian lilac.
I only took pictures from a safe distance off our back deck.
No wandering in the woods yet for me.
I don't think my knee scooter needs to go
four-wheel driving. 



Lilacs always remind that the end of the school year is approaching. 
June 6th is the last day for my K-12 crew! 
I can hardly wait!

Creekside adventures...

I was cleaning off the memory card and came across some pictures that were taken a few months ago when Chris took the girls on a long walk behind our house.

Consumer's Energy owns the land behind our home and it's fairly undeveloped. If you were to walk past our treehouse, beyond our vegetable garden and out a few acres, this is what you would see.

Our subdivision is actually named after a creek that runs behind our property.

I can't wait to see what this creek looks like during the summer months.

It might even be picnic worthy!

A stroll in the woods...

It's been so unseasonable warm in West MI. Without snow covering our ground, my husband took a stroll into the woods behind our house and shot some amazing pictures of the current landscape.

This frog statue is in our shade garden bird bath.
Note his green moss chest hair.

My husband enjoys playing with landscaping as much as I enjoy playing in my craftroom. He put together these urns from our leftover Christmas greenery and bits of dried plants from our yard.


Rumor has it that a winter storm is finally going to arrive later this week. I think we're ready.

A walk in the deep, deep, DEEP woods...

On Saturday, we took a family walk behind our property.

Consumer's Energy owns the land behind our home and it's fairly undeveloped. As you can tell by my deer posts, the land is filled with lots of wildlife. As much as they are beautiful, they have been known to turn our yard into a salad bar.

If you walk far enough behind our property, it even has a tiny stream/creek.

With over eighteen inches of snow, it was the quite the workout. Since Saturday, we've had a surprise warm-up but it's going to take a lot of warm weather/rain to get rid of these snow banks.

Josie was pulled on the sled and occasionally, Emma joined her. A 7th grader is bit harder to pull.

It was a beautiful walk.

Yes. We did prop the camera on top of the sled for a family picture.
It only took 1 attempt!
