BIG Announcements

I have two BIG announcements to share. The first Announcement is that Emma has selected (Jodi from Headsup07up) as this evening's red lantern necklace give-away winner.

Congratulations and Happy soon-to-be Moon Festival! Send me an email with your postal address and I'll get your necklace in the mail.

The second announcement will be shared some time later Friday. We're waiting for the official news before we say anything. I'm terrible with secrets and it's killing me to not leak the news, so be sure to check back later Friday. How's that for a tease????

Bingo cards & Halloween

One of my favorite antique stores, sells bundles of bingo cards for a dollar and I love using them for holiday decorations.

The letter wooden blocks were found at my local dollar store, glittered spiders were Martha's (last season), I shredded tissue paper in my paper shredder and the vintage Halloween graphics were found all over the web.

To the annoyance of Emma, these "Halloween ornaments" will end up on my "special" sunroom tree (between you and me...that tree is never going away...hee hee).

I'm feeling generous and I will be putting together a Halloween Kim K. package in the next few weeks. Stay tuned and Happy Crafting!

PS. For all my adoptive friends, don't forget to leave a comment for my Mid-Autumn Moon Festival giveaway. You can find it on this post.

Mid Autumn/Moon Festival Give-Away!

Before I get to my Mid Autumn/Moon Festival give-away, I wanted to remind everyone that Karin's girls from "Our Treasurers from Afar" still have all kinds of doll pillow/blanket sets available for their Morning Start Orphanage fundraiser. We've certainly been enjoying our special pillows/blankets at our house.

See this post for more information and fabric selections.

Now onto my give-away....

Michaels has all kinds of nifty Asian charms and I just couldn't resist putting together a couple of necklaces ...one for me and one for YOU!!

For all my adoptive mommies, this red lantern charm necklace is a fun little bauble you can wear at the upcoming Mid Autumn/Moon Festival on September 22nd, or Chinese New Year, or during Lantern Festival...or whenever you feel like it. Just leave a comment on this post and I'll randomly draw a winner on (September 16th at 8pm EST). Good luck!

School, Schooners & Shopping...

Howdy friends! Well, we all made it through our first "official" week of school, and I am happy to report that we're still in one piece. The 5:50am alarm clock/6:40 school bus is a killer, but we're managing.

I had to teach Saturday morning at our northern Traverse city campus and brought the family along for a quick overnight trip. We always look forward to our favorite brewery for its infamous Gorgonzola Ale Dip. Picture Italian bleu cheese blended with cream cheese, dried cherries, toasted pecans and beer. Yummy!

The Schooner Festival is currently going on and despite the chilly temperatures, the schooners were amazing to look at.

Of course no trip to Traverse city is ever complete without conducting a bit of shopping. I found this light fixture at an antique mall. It's going to end up in my craft room over my reading chair once Chris has time to rewire it.

Several Halloween owls also managed to come home with me.

Hope you're having a splendid weekend.
I just need mine to slow down a bit.

Sneak peek from the top...

Over Labor day weekend, Chris took the camera up with him into the tree house to take a few interior/exterior shots that I have not been able to capture from the safety of the ground. Between you and me...I'm waiting to set foot in that tree house until after the flooring, safety rails and steps are in place.

I can't wait to sit on the front porch or play a board game inside the tree house with the girls.

The view from that height is very pretty.

You have to agree, it's quite the tree house.
GO Chris GO!!
