Picking cherries...

I picked up this cherry stove wall pocket at an estate recently and decided it needed a home in my kitchen.

It has already made friends with the chalkware fruit and cherry kitchen valance that my mother made me.

I feel a little bit like Mary Engelbreit with my small kitchen collection of cherries.

XOXO

Weathering the first outdoor Allegan Antique market of 2014!

Despite the insane crazy wind gusts and incredibly cold temps, my mother, sister and myself braved our first outdoor Allegan Antique market of 2014 on Sunday.   It was quite the adventure!!

I'm being brave posting this group selfie.  We were so cold!!!  Emma's group selfie from Easter was much prettier.  hee hee.
I had summer on the brain when I picked up this salt water taffy tin.
The tin has already found a new home in our beach-themed bathroom.
The Effanbee doll has made new friends in my craft room.
The miniature log cabins and maple syrup containers will be added my cabin collection.
I think my favorite purchase of the day were these camp stools.
The girls tested them out Sunday evening in our backyard Camp Toadstool.
I think they'll be perfect seating for roasting marshmallows.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend having your special adventures.

Ninja moves

Way back at Christmas, Santa delivered a trampoline which has been sitting in our basement the last five months.
Santa got an amazing deal on this item because it was off-season.
With the last of snow behind us, the trampoline has been assembled behind the girl's special treehouse.
I grew up with a trampoline back in the late 70s early 80s, and safety netting sides didn't exist.
I'm glad safety nets are now fairly standard because  as you can see, Josie has  been practicing her Ninja warrior moves and acting out the characters from Kung Fu Panda.
I think Josie's summer will be spent defending our backyard from all kinds of villains.  Happy "almost" weekend!

A $2 box of happiness...

While running errands last Saturday in preparation for Easter, there happened to be an estate sale advertised within a few miles of our house. It was day 2 of the sale and everything was 50% off.   The dolls are in great condition, but they need some Kim K. clothes.
Lucky for me, a few holiday goodies were still sitting in the basement.
That black cat with the orange striped scarf is a big winner.
The floral picks will be put on my Halloween tree.

The felt handmade stocking will become part of my Christmas stocking valance.

A $2 box of happiness! Yippee for the return of estate sale season!

Easter Selfies!

The girls and I decided to do a few selfies in our Easter finery before church.
May your day be filled with joy, peace and perhaps a bit of chocolate.
Wishing you a blessed Easter!
 Rejoice!
 He is risen!

Easter hugs from our house to your own!

Easter is coming!!

As you've seen over these last few weeks, Easter holds a special place at our house.
Although we will be heading to my parent’s home for dinner after mass on Sunday, I decided to decorate our own dining room table for our own "early" Easter celebration.
The garden/bunny tablecloth is now 17+ years old.
It's a Wilton Court tablecloth that has bunnies working in their garden.
The green dishes were formally my Great Aunt Marie’s which were then passed onto my late Grandmother. I feel honored to own them.
The center piece is made with silk daffodils this year because the real ones are still hiding in our muddy brown yard.
As you can see, I filled the table with a few of my favorite Easter themed planters picked up from estate sales (as well as Caledonia Vintage Marketplace) and given Kim K. makeovers.
The yellow vintage nut cups were a recent estate sale purchase.
Happy "almost" Easter!
Wishing you a blessed Good Friday!

Our eggs-traordinary reveal (like you'd expect anything less)!

Several years ago, we made a couple of minion Easter eggs based on the Despicable Me movie.

 This picture was from 2011.
This year the girls have fallen in love with the movie Frozen and so we decided to make the snowman Olaf out of two of our non-dyed eggs.

Out came my glue gun, marker, yarn, googly eyes and pipe cleaners.

 Isn't he rather cute?

Of course, we also made a few dyed eggs.    I don't know who has more fun decorating eggs (me or the girls)!

Another familiar Easter tradition is the return of Mr. Easter Bunny to the front porch.
Mr. Easter Bunny is sporting a new pink bow this year and I added some Christmas lights and plastic eggs to the window box.  I have a few more things to share later this week.  Until then, Easter hugs from our house to your own!!

PS.  We woke up to fresh snow this morning.

I'm sure no one is surprised, but I had to document it on the blog.
Today is only a high of 36 but we are expected to see 50s later this week.
