Lots of reasons to celebrate!

Aside from our real estate news, we've had three other special events over this past week.

First. Emma got her driver's license!
Another huge milestone to check off the list!
Second.  My father received a very special award from the Superintendent of Greenville Public Schools.
He's an amazing man who despite his very busy schedule at his funeral home, still finds time to be actively involved in the Greenville community and the Education Foundation.
  So proud of you, Dad!

Third. The girls finished up a busy week at Families for International Adoption Heritage camp.
Emma was a classroom volunteer again in Josie's class.
It was another fabulous experience at camp!

Thanks for the great pictures, Kelly!

PS.  Can't wait to share all the estate sale purchases that Chris has been rehabbing for our cottage.

He and I hit several fantastic sales over the last couple of weeks.

We've been keeping a SECRET!

We've been keeping a secret since early March.
I should clarify that Chris has been the one working on this secret mission since early March.
Loads of research, several inspections, negotiations and mountains of paperwork have been happening.
We are now the proud owners of lakefront property!
Yes.  It really is an A-Frame.
It's tiny.
Like only one-person-in-the-kitchen-at-a-time tiny.
It has a loft bedroom, one bedroom on the main floor, one bathroom, a tiny upstairs living room and a good-sized finished basement (which is where I imagine our sixteen year old will be taking over).
Despite its miniature size, it has loads of charm and it's right on the water.
Chris's blue boat really does have a permanent home now (instead of the side of our house).
All the furnishings you see in these pictures are the original owners.

We have some renovations happening before we move in our things.
Carpets are being ripped out first and then the electrical is being upgraded next.
All of Chris's vintage outdoor treasures (including my Grandpa's lure collection) will be going with us.
This is the reason we've been collecting extra estate sale goodies and furniture.
Aside from mattresses, we are determined to outfit this cottage with purchases from thrift stores , estate sales and garage sales.
It's been fun collecting.
Just think of all the blogging material I'll have over the new few months as we put our own touches on this place!!

Mail call and hints of a BIG secret!

Several weeks ago, 2 friends sent me special boxes with all sorts of amazing goodies. It's been so busy at our house that I hadn't had time to do a proper thank you on the blog.

Maggie from Maggie's Lil' Fixins sent me all these fun Easter treats, sewing drawer and vintage decals.

Isn't that sewing drawer so cute?

Holly from Damita's Pretty Wrap sent me a special birthday package.  Love the wrapping!

Included was this vintage Jiminy Cricket  Puzzle.

Josie helped me put it together last night and I've got plans to permanently mount and hang it in my garden shed.

As I've said in the past, blogging friends are the most generous kind of friends.  Thank you, ladies!

PS.  I have some very very exciting news to share later tomorrow. It's something that we've been working on for several months and I will finally have the clearance to share the good news with everyone later Thursday. No.  We aren't adding to our family.  As much as the girls would like a little brother or sister, we aren't expanding our family.

Peonies and my Patriotic winner!

Our peonies are wonderful this year.
I've filled my milk glass vases with their glorious pink blooms and I'm enjoying them on my fireplace mantle.
Josie was happy to be my assistant this evening for my patriotic give-away.
Jill from Bucks Country Folk Art send me your postal address and I'll get your patriotic cigar shadowbox in the mail right away.   For everyone else, I love giving away my creations as much as I enjoy making, them so you can plan on additional Kim K. give-away opportunities in the future.
I'm behind on posting updates and visiting blogs.  Lots of happenings at work and at home.

A quiet evening with Chris under the patio umbrella is calling me tonight.
XOXO

A patriotic give-away!

It's time for another Kim K. give-away!
Because I think everyone needs something miniature to love and I can't give away one of my big dollhouses, I've created a miniature scene using a cigar box and a collection of special treasures including a sweet little doll with a patriotic makeover.
In order to be entered in the give-away, leave me a comment on this blog post.
 Absolutely no strings attached.
Entries close at 8:00 pm EST Monday, June 16th.
A winner will be picked randomly by one of my two girls (whoever happens to be my willing assistant).
This is a give-away for the pure joy of giving back to my blogging friends!
XOXO
