Some well-earned play time!

If you're out running errands this weekend, Target has stocked their $1 bin with all sorts of crafting supplies perfect for Valentine projects.
It's been a busy week at our house.  Emma has had final exams at the high school.
To celebrate the end of the semester, she's having a few friends over for a skating/slumber party Friday evening.
I'm also looking forward to some play time of my own this weekend.
I started a bit early with a "temporary" string-of-hearts Valentine valance.  The string is pinned so that it can be removed after Valentines.
I hope you have a couple of relaxing play-filled days planned.
Happy soon-to-be weekend!

Celebrating Chinese New Year with our Year-Round Tree!

If you've followed me for awhile, you know that we have a year-round decorative tree that receives multiple  makeovers every other month (including some made-up holidays).

It's a slender tree that sits tucked in our sunroom corner.

It's now featuring an assortment of decorations celebrating the approaching Chinese New Year which begins January 31st.

As you can imagine, the CNY tree is one of my favorites.

 Josie's too.

Happy Year of the Horse!

XOXO

Tiny dancer...

I've been hanging onto this tiny heart jello mold waiting for the perfect project.
I hope you found some time to play this weekend.
XOXO

Preparing for Year of the Horse!

Chinese New Year begins January 31st and while we were still home with our Polar Vortex, Josie and I worked a "Year of the Horse" crafting project.  This project came from the ever-talented "Let's Go Fly a Kite". I always appreciate her "crafting with kids" projects. All the instructions and the horse template can be found on her blog at this link.

We didn't have many red Chinese envelops to decorate our horse, so we modified the directions and used red and gold glitter, glue and sequins.

I also printed off the horse template on brown construction paper.

As you can see, Josie really enjoyed this project.

Happy soon-to-be Year of the Horse!

Happy Friday!

Bringing the snow indoors & Kim K. winner!

Despite a very slippery/slow commute, we all headed back to our respective schools Wednesday morning.
My normal 10-12 minute commute took 55 minutes.
It took my husband even longer.
While we were still home earlier this week, I decided that my snowman-themed collection needed to be moved from the smaller sunroom mantle to the living room mantle.
I have a feeling winter is going to be around a very long time.
No complaints.
 We are a snow-happy family.
This evening's winner of my Kim K. Snow-inspired give-away is Danielle from Blessed Serendipity.
She was selected by Miss Emma.
Please share your postal address and I'll get your special winter goodies in the mail.
For everyone else, I love giving away my creations as much as I enjoy making, them so you can plan on additional Kim K. give-away opportunities in the future.
Happy Winter!  On Friday, I'll be sharing a "Year of the Horse" Chinese New Year activity, inspired by one of my favorite blogs, "Lets go fly a kite:  Crafting with my kids".
