Look what came in the mail today!

This year's Halloween party is drastically different. Instead of plotting the perfect appetizer and cocktail, we're spending our time researching kid-friendly games, prizes and treats. Our order from the Oriental Trading company arrived today. Josie and Emma were very excited to explore the contents of the box.

We have secured a popcorn maker from a local elementary school as well as several teenagers willing to spend their night running carnival games. Without giving away too many secrets, the prizes that arrived from Oriental Trading Company look awfully fun.

Although Chris enjoys his creatures and all the bloodcurdling gore that comes with Halloween, I'm all about the festive side of Halloween. I want to reassure the blogging world (and those families that are bringing little ones to our party) that we really do have some more gentle Halloween decorations.

As you can see in this picture, Josie has enjoyed rearranging the stuffed Halloween creatures on our piano.

My Halloween shelf in the sunroom is now done (I managed to finish that up while Josie was napping on Saturday).

Josie also enjoys wearing the bear's witch hat as long as she can sit in her baby doll's stroller. Notice how those plastic pumpkins go everywhere with her now.

This year, I've put my Charlie Brown Halloween collection up HIGH on my sunroom shelf. It's probably one of my favorite Halloween possessions. Who doesn't love a good Charlie Brown Halloween?

Believe it or not, we're still not done decorating. There are a few more crates to unpack. A few of you have asked whether we do this big of a display at Christmas. No. This is our BIG holiday. Keep checking back.

Do grown-ups have to dress up too or is it just a children's party?
