5,000 sky lanterns...a glimpse into heaven...

I had a wonderful time visiting Josie's classroom to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival.   Everyone seem to enjoy their chocolate covered fortune cookies and coloring their moon cake pages.

Later Friday evening we went downtown to participate in the "Lights in the Night" for ArtPrize 2012. Picture over 5,000 sky lanterns being launched simultaneously.  We got to the park early to pick a spot and enjoy the scenery along the grand river.

It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever participated in.

Josie kept saying this might be what heaven looks like.

I couldn't agree more.

That is a gorgeous scene! The most beautiful place I have seen (man made) was Beauchardt Gardens in Victoria, B.C. I walked around the corner saw the sunken garden and it literally took my breath away! I'd love to have a look at those lanterns, it sure looks awesome!

WOW! We see a few of these sent up into the air while waiting for our town's fireworks to start, but this is just stunning, and I think Josie is completely right!

I love meeting someone new and better yet, living in so close you are almost in my back yard. Our connection, Garden of Daisies. I mentioned Art Prize on my blog, she saw your photos . . . and I am jumping over to you!

We viewed Art Prize most of the day Friday. Had a six o'clock dinner at the RESERVE, went for our car, traveled down Monroe Street and saw what looked like fireflies . . . until we got closer. We had not read or heard about the Lantern event, so surprise it was for us. My photos were taken from our moving/traveling car and aren't as beautuful as yours.

The beauty has stayed with me and my husband since then. Inspiring and filled with HOPE. I agree with your daughter . . . it must be what heaven is like.

How wonderful for you to have been there and to have participated!
