The untouchables...

My most beloved and fragile Halloween items have made an appearance again this year on the living room mantle.

This special collection is tucked up high, away from my helpful 6 year old and two busy cats.  Halloween themed nutcrackers, glass ornaments and glittered votive candle holders fill the mantle.

The Bride of Frankenstein was purchased last year on clearance from Target.  She poses with several black cats and a glittery spider.

Frankenstein is next his beloved bride along with several extended family members made of plastic, glass and glitter.

Dracula takes center stage on the mantle.  He was my first nutcracker in my Halloween collection.

Mr. Skeleton stands along side Dracula, along with a blown glass cauldron, ghost votive, black cat and voodoo doll from New Orleans.

Ms. Witch ends my collection at the far right of the mantle.  She casts a few spells when she's not busy collecting candy.

The party is only a few days away and Chris is still putting final touches on the yard decor, basement and garage.  Food needs to be purchased, and the girls will be helping me set up carnival games (on loan from Chris's elementary school).  The Halloween countdown continues.

Getting excited for the party and I'm not even coming! (Except online, of course.) The mantel looks beautifully spooky.

I love seeing your special things! Just think...in twenty years, you will have twenty more nutcrackers! They seem to multiply as you get older. I have too much stuff and need to whittle it down. But I continue to buy things...the magic of HaLloWeEn!
Enjoy the fun!

It's been a while since I had a 6 year old, but I certainly know how curious cats can be. Your black cats are my favorite thing in all of this spooktacular decor.

Great shelf of untouchables and totally understand the necessity with keeping those spooky items out of reach! What a party...

Hi Kim, My neighbor holds a huge party such as this in a very large barn. I can't wait to tell her how your husband created the brick walls. Don't you just love these nutcrackers! The spider shadows! It's all so magical for your children. Elizabeth

Very smart of you to put these out of the way of busy little hands and paws. I really like the way that you have displayed them, it makes a real impact.

Love your beautiful mantle decorations! I am always sad this time of year that we don't live closer, we would totally be there.

Good luck with your final preparations. So fun that you can borrow carnival games for the party. I'm sure it is going to be the best ever.
