Reliving my childhood

I recently stopped at one of my favorite mission thrift stores and spotted a long box on the floor marked Toymaster cardboard electric fireplace.
Could it really be the same fireplace that I remember from childhood photos?( Christmas 1970).
The $20 price was an absolute steal (especially after I see how much they go for on ebay).
Not knowing if all the pieces were there, I decided to take my chances and purchase it.
As you can see, it's pretty darn fantastic. I'm totally reliving my childhood with this faux fireplace.

My mom even gave me the felted sequin Santa that you see on the fireplace back in 1970.

Have yourself a very merry vintage Christmas!  Happy December!

We had one of those too! I'm so excited for you! Is this going to the a-frame or taking a place of honor at your house?

I love that it is a nod to your growing up years. I have one that I put up in the basement (if I have enough time). I sold two this year at my shows. They are not easy to find!
enjoy....

I bought one of these last year for $4 but I had no use for it since my home had a fireplace so I sold it. Now I have a new home with no fireplace and wish I still had it. I love having a fireplace to hang stockings.

Kim , I have been looking for one for years because it was one of the most vivid memory of my childhood traditions. I'm so happy that you found one and now you get to start a new tradition with your girls. Merry Christmas!

Kim,
OMG!! I love this. We had no room for the fireplace so I had my Mom buy the brick paper and wrapped my toy chest in it and pretended it was a fire place when I was a kid!!

I am going to be catching up on your Christmas posts.....
Hugs,
Deb

I love that you saw something that you once had in your childhood and purchased it. That is totally something i would do in hopes that my children would remember it and love it nearly as much I did after they grew up. Not to mention childhood memories from Christmas or the holidays are the best ones.
