Decorating my garden shed

Even though we got a late start on our backyard garden, we were fortunate to harvest all sorts of mixed gourds and jack-be-little pumpkins. 

Our humid and hot summer made for perfect growing conditions. 

I decided that my garden shed needed a little fall decorating.

I haven't spent much time in my special space, so I got busy Sunday afternoon clearing out the cobwebs.

Now that it's clean again, maybe I'll bring a book outside and enjoy my cozy sanctuary.

Happy 1st Day of Spring!

I'm happy to report that only a few small mounds of snow remain in the shaded areas of our yard. Woo hoo!! While I'm tempted to pack away our snow pants and winter boots, I know that the chance of white stuff returning to West MI is pretty high.

On Saturday, while Chris headed across the state, the girls and I spent the day shopping for spring clothes and playing in the yard. I also managed to find a few thrifty treasurers which is a post for Monday & Tuesday.

Emma is in love with her new long dress.
I think she looks very pretty, but much too grown-up.
How did that happen?

Josie and I came home with new gardening boots.

See. We really do have a few green things in our muddy yard!!

Our seedlings are also growing nicely in our sunroom.

We've missed you!

Snow & Seeds...

We have enough snow on the ground that the girls were out sledding in our yard this past weekend. Yes. Those dots are snowflakes in the air. It was nearly dusk when I took this photo.

Even if winter is lingering longer than we'd like, Chris and Josie spent this past Saturday afternoon getting a few seeds ready for planting. Thank you Lea for my Chinese forget-me-knots.

Our starter plants are taking up residence in the sunroom.

The next biggest hurdle will be keeping Miss Penny away.

I can't take any credit for the gardening projects that happen at my house. It's all Chris.

With his K-12 work schedule, he spends his summer days/nights with the girls outside.

Last year, we started a vegetable garden in sunny patch in the woods behind our house.

We're already plotting new ideas for a raised vegetable bed and expanding the garden. Thanks for the inspiration, Sunny!

Come on SPRING!
