A Sunday Stroll...

Yesterday's outing with my mom and sister was well needed and loads of fun!! Being cooped up in my house during foot surgery recovery had really started taking a toil on my mental health. Amazing what a little shopping and mobility can provide to your spirits!! I didn't leave the antique store with loads of goodies, but I did purchase a few more things from my favorite etsy store "Dime Store Chic" that I'm also mixing into today's post.
These mini paper lanterns will be used to help decorate Josie's birthday party and will eventually end up in my craft room and the girls treehouse. These vintage millinery flowers will be perfect for future crafting projects.

I'm always on the hunt for vintage party books
and this Better Homes and Gardens has fabulous pictures.

When I'm in my craft room, I often will listen to record albums.
Josie especially enjoys listening to story albums.

Yes.  I loved the Monkees television show.
I think Emma needs to be introduced to this television series in the near future.

A stack of 1955 Child Life magazines with fabulous graphics.

Linking up with It's a Very Cherry World Rednesday

All in all a great day of shopping and company! Tomorrow, I head back to the surgeon for follow-up x-rays and my walking cast.  Freedom from crutches!  Yippee!!

Turning the corner...

I feel like I've finally turned the corner in my foot surgery recovery.

It's been a long five weeks.

Within the last 24 hours, I can do heel walking without incredible pain or my foot swelling up to three times its normal size.I'll be seeing the surgeon Tuesday for another x-ray and to get my walking cast.

Later today, my mom, sister and I are going shopping at my favorite antique mall as an early Mother's Day outing. I can't wait.  I'm sure there are treasures that need to be found.

A special pink dress...

Earlier this week, I mentioned that Josie wanted a flamingo-themed birthday party.  A shopping trip to Target with my mom produced this adorable $8 dress!
Josie doesn't typically like to wear dresses, but when I showed her this one, she was very eager to model it for me.

I've got a few weeks to prepare for all our festivities.
I need to focus on Emma's "14th" birthday first.

Let's just say that Dollar Tree loves me.

Laundry on the line...

I've been searching for a vintage-style clothes pin bag
and  (Dime Store Chic)
had a clothes pin bag for a reasonable price.

The laundry bag was simple and I wanted to add
something more to jazz it up a bit.

As much as I love to create things, I'm not a sewer.
I added some mini ric rac and these sweet blue flowers.

It's now hanging up in my laundry room.

Along with some of my other favorite laundry inspired goodies.
I'm hopeful that Chris can find a spot in our yard
for a clothesline this summer.

There's nothing better than fresh,
crisp sheets and tablecloths off the line
.

A new month...a new look.

Over the next few weeks, we have several reasons to pull out the party decor.  Mother's Day, Emma's birthday, my birthday, our 20th wedding anniversary and Josie's birthday all happen within weeks of each other. I've decided to give my blog a festive makeover to honor our upcoming celebrations.

Emma has informed me that it's not "cool" to have themed birthday parties when you turn 14. But that doesn't mean that I can't find a few ways to slip in some sophisticated decorations.

Several months ago, Josie announced that she wanted a flamingo-themed birthday party.

Not sure how she came up with that idea, but I'm looking forward to an outing to our local Dollar Tree to see what decorations I can re-purpose for her special 6th birthday.

Happy May!
