Playing with fire...

Last week we had high winds.

Strong enough to knock down a few more
dead trees near the treehouse.

This prompted Chris to get a burn permit from our city office.
He spent Saturday playing with fire and his chain saw.

I don't have any pictures of Chris's fire,
but Emma went outside and took some "after" pictures.

Chris has plans to create several "defined" walking paths
and a few benches.

He's looking forward to having an excuse to buy more plants.
If you think I'm kidding about his plant buying obsession,
see this post from last May.

Chris must be itching to get his hands in the soil. I can't wait to see what he has plans for. With that wooded lot behind you you are bound to have plenty of places for bench seating. Smiles...Renee

OOOO! I feel your pain! We've got lots of old trees on our property that still need to come down. A few have come down on their own and thank God nobody got hurt. The other day, I noticed our dog got out and couldn't figure out how. When I went to get him, that's when I saw it....a tree had fallen over and crushed our wooden fence on two sides! We hadn't seen it before because it's in back of the kids playset and a couple other trees. One step forward, two steps back. Yes, we have lots of "barrel nights". Luckily, where we live, we're still allowed to have fires. Most people in our area aren't allowed to.

With all that wood there will probably be many campfires and S'mores at your house this summer! My husband is the landscape planner too, once he drew it I wasn't allowed to buy anything that wasn't part of the blueprint for trees and plants!

Sounds like a fun man thing to do!
We can't have fires where we live or my husband would so do that too (and we have some tree parts that have been broken from winds too).

Fires are so scary...and so are high winds. We are fortunate to not have fires in this area...but we do get high winds off the lake.

I hope you are having a great week-xo Diana

I have to admit that I'm like Chris - the more plants, the merrier! I just divided my Snapdragons from a 12-pack I had started and got 50 new seedlings! A Schizanthus 12-pack gave me 41 and I have many more to divide. Don't ask me where I'm going to put them all - probably give them away!

You have a beautiful spot. It will be nice to have a little more sun in that area to grow in that area, the paths will be a real treat. I can't wait to see how this unfolds!
