Easter cake topper (estate sale) makeover...

When I picked up these plastic cake toppers at the Friday estate sale, I didn't think baking...I thought crafting! 

I purchased the picture frames from the Dollar Tree, painted them white and coated them in glitter.

The glass was removed from the frame and scrapbooking paper was glued to the frame backing. Miniature wooden Easter ornaments were added for a bit more dimension.

 The pink garland trim was also a Dollar Tree purchase.  The pink scrapbooking paper is currently available in a bundle at the $1 bins at Michaels.

Totally kitschy.  

It's almost March.  I think the rest of my Easter decorations are coming out this weekend. 

P is for pinafore and play dishes...

I'm going to be dragging out last Friday's estate sale acquisitions for weeks.  It was such a great sale. This pinafore apron was found in the bottom of a trunk and smelled of old moth balls.  

After a good soaking and some ironing, it looks as good as new.  Isn't the rabbit stitching darling?

The best part, it's actually close to Josie's size!

Right next to the trunk with the smelly pinafore, was a bag of children's metal dishes.

 We seriously don't need more play dishes, but for the $2 price tag, they had to come home with me.

Who wants to come over to play?  Pretend cooking is my favorite kind of cooking.

Another weekend of winter backyard fun...

We are certainly making the most of our backyard ice rink. Skating at night is still my favorite time.   Love those lanterns!

Emma's best friend borrowed my skates and the two of them had fun dodging Josie on the ice.

While Chris and I were running errands on Friday, we found these mini hockey nets on clearance at a local home improvement chain. 

 They are perfect size for Miss Josie's wild version of hockey.



Rumor has it another snow storm is headed our way Tuesday.  Giddy up!!

Playing hooky...

My husband and I each enjoyed a vacation day from work on Friday.

 Despite an early morning snow storm, we managed to hit one fabulous estate sale, run a few necessary errands, and then hit the southern lake shore to visit a few of our favorite antique malls.

 Amazing how different the South Haven harbor looks during the winter.



It was a perfect Friday.  Just wait until you see all the goodies that came home with me.  The antique malls were fun, but the estate sale was fabulous.

This Effanbee 1930's doll was my favorite rescue.

Peat (seed starter) pots are back!

Just in case you are out running errands this weekend, I noticed that seed starter peat pots are back in stock at Dollar Tree. Actually, you can find them all over the place...including major grocery store chains and home construction stores.

 They are great for making mini Easter baskets. 

Grab your glue gun, some ribbon, buttons, print off a few Easter graphics and you're all set!

Playing with my little kitchen...

It all started with these plastic dollhouse kitchen pieces.

As well as, an empty cigar box, Mary Engelbreit paper and a handful of miniature goodies.

Before I knew it, a miniature kitchen was created.

 I'm blaming Meri (Imagimeri's Creations) for my shadow box addiction.

Proper thank-yous!

I'm so behind in sharing a few more goodies from dear blogging friends.

A few weeks after Christmas, my friend Lynne (Irish Garden House) sent me this amazing package filled with vintage Christmas goodies which included Santa figurines, Russian stacking dolls, gurly candles and a celluloid reindeer.  Be still my heart!  Lynne and I found each other after a common blogging friend noticed that we posted similar pictures about the release of sky lanterns during an event at ArtPrize.  Since then, we email daily and compare our snowfall and MI weather.  She has the most beautiful pictures of her gorgeous backyard on her blog.  Thank you Lynne.

Tammy (Tammy's in Love) sent me a HUGE box filled with all sorts of paper crafting supplies, and ornaments for our Chinese New Year tree.  She also included this gorgeous Asian fabric.  

She and I have special connection that goes beyond the love of crafting and antiquing.  She is the mother of 2 children adopted from Korea.   Her packages always include special treasures representative of our international adoption connection.

Finally, Lynn from Life on the Wienee Ranch sent me this box filled with all sorts of treasures for the girls  and myself.

 My husband still can't understand how my blogging friends can be so generous in sending me things just because.  Yep.  I'm a lucky lucky lady.
