On Sunday afternoon, Josie and I spent some time transforming one her little houses into a Chinese New Year celebration for Kai-lan. You can find a tutorial for making these lanterns here on my blog. I just cut the paper a bit smaller than usual.
Thank you for sharing the CNY miniature blog post, Lee. We loved making the Chinese take-out food containers. In case you're wondering, the miniature chopsticks are toothpicks cut to size.
We also decided to make a special snake out of an empty egg carton container.
Anytime paint is involved, it's a good craft in Josie's world.
Once the paint finally dried, my hot glue gun put our colorful "Year of the Snake" together.
Although Josie missed her special Chinese Language School festival on Saturday, our crafting time was more fun (and honestly a lot less stressful).
Happy Year of the Snake!

I love that toothy grin!! She looks like she is getting back to her old self!
So many fun projects in this post. Yeah for stress free crafting.
The lanterns, and CNY house are so sweet and the rainbow snake turned out perfect. Those takeout boxes are adorable, such tiny folds.
I bet what you did with her at home that day was more meaningful than a roomfull of people. That's what my Caitlin would say! Maggie
She's so stinkin' cute and I love her egg carton dragon.
Girlfriend what time do you get up in the mornings.......my goodness you're an early bird. I can never remember whether it's a two or three hour difference, and when that all changes, cause we never have to do that.
Hugs,
Meri
Egg Snake is such a cute idea . . . Josie did great painting for the snake.
Happy to see her "no teeth in the front on top" smile!
Stay well Josie . . .
Your little dollhouse is just too cute!! Who wouldn't love to craft in their PJ's or sweats? You are right! Way more relaxing!! Loving the snake too!

Such great crafting memories Josie will have....nothing better than art projects and kids!
Looks like you had a lot of fun celebrating CNY your own way. Doll house decorating and snake making sound like the perfect way for a little girl to spend an afternoon. Hope she is feeling better now.
So adorable! How fun that your girls enjoy decorating and playing with the dollhouses with you! I'm glad Josie's feeling better. And by the way, I don't think I've seen photos of her with her hair down before- so pretty!
How cute is that?! Love all of your tiny details, from the chop sticks to the paper lanterns! Josie is really growing up fast!
Looks like Josie had a lot of fun. I just love your doll houses.
