Fabric toadstool ornaments

I hinted on this post that I was going to attempt another craft that required a sewing needle. In between loads of laundry Saturday, I made a few fabric toadstools for my feather tree and I'm proud to say that not a single naughty word was uttered during this craft. That's major progress from my tulle tree.

1. Using a small bowl, trace a four inch circle on your favorite printed fabric.

2. Cut out circle and sew a gathering stitch around the edge of your circle.

3. Pull your gathering stitch to create the toadstool cap. Pack the cap with poly-fill or cotton balls. Pull gathering stitch tight, close and knot.

4. Glue candle cup holder to mushroom cap. I painted my candle cup holder white before I glued it to my caps.

5. Finish the toadstool with embellishments (I hot glued miniature silk flowers) and then stitched a Christmas hook onto the cap to hang my ornament.

Can you tell I'm having loads of fun with my woodland theme this year?

Happy Crafting and Merry Christmas!
