Toadstools, gnomes & elves...oh my!!

If you look very closely in the picture, you can see that my sister and I are playing with Christmas elves. It's not the clearest of pictures, but it explains my obsession with Christmas gnomes and German elves.

Just in case you wondered, gnomes make it a life practice to do good deeds without recognition and they are protectors of the environment and caregivers to the animals. It's a lovely idea and I'm all about magical fairy tales this time of year. My feather tree is decked out in toadstools, elves and gnomes this Christmas.

World Market has all kinds of goodies to aid in my obsession.

I've been busy adding a few toadstools to my growing collection. Graphics Fairy even posted a wonderful mushroom print and with a touch of fine glitter and a bit of trim, I turned the image into an ornament for my feather tree.

Before snow was on the ground, Josie had been bringing home pockets full of acorns from her preschool and with a splash of paint and fine glitter, I turned a few of them into toadstools.

Josie even got into the painting action with her own special acorns.

I've got plans for a few more toadstools and these craft projects even require a bit of needle and thread. Yes. I've crossed into sewing again. I'm feeling brave. Stay tuned.

Merry Christmas and Happy Crafting!

I love the toadstools, and I am very excited to see your ideas. Per your suggestion,I went to Cost Plus, and they really did have beautiful decorations. I gave into temptation and bought a toadstool just like yours. Unfortunately, I brought it home and it just doesn't look right on my tree. No worries, I think I will just exchange it for something else since there are so many pretty things to choose from! Great post!

How creative to turn acorns into toadstools! What a fun project! I collected a ton of them myself this fall, I even glittered some of them! I also love your Graphics Fairy toadstool. Looks perfect on your tree:)

Your tree looks fabulous!

I borrowed your Christmas chain idea and we made ours tonight. We also made a blessings bucket. Carson's first blessing was "God" and Kamree's first blessings were "Christmas Tree" and "Santa"! What a hoot! Thanks again for the idea!

How enchanting this is. Isn't it interesting how things in childhood effect us for the rest of our lives. This is a wonderful tradition to pass on to your girls.(-:
