Target $1 Bin & Chicken Coop Makeover

Before I forget and while they are still in the $1 bins at Target, grab these little pocket books.

We're going to be giving them a quick makeover in a few days. They are perfect for tucking a cell phone and some lipstick. They would also be fun birthday party favors. AND don't forget, Mother's Day isn't that far off either! They might even be 50% off right now because they were with the Easter items. Run, ladies!!!

Now, onto some amazing eye candy!

We have a very special adoptive family in GA who we spent some time with this past summer. While we were there in July, the kids enjoyed getting eggs from their real-life chicken coop.

Soon after we left, several wild animals got into the coop and the chickens were no more. My friend Shanna (with a lot of sanitizing and help from her family) decided to convert their coop into a dreamy play house.

Isn't this a beautiful space? It looks like it should be featured in Romantic Homes magazine. Shanna's inspiration came from this cabin that was featured in the NY Times.

You really need to go visit Sandra Foster's blog for more shabby inspiration.

If we ever get back to GA, I told Shanna that us "big" girls are going to hide out in her playhouse. I'm pretty sure Chris and I are going to be escaping to the treehouse just as much as the girls, when it gets finished.

Have a beautiful Wednesday!
XOXO

Oh dear, you have me wishing for a Target in Canada AGAIN!!

That is so sad about the predators in the chicken coop. Shanna did a wonderful job given the situation - I really love the white washed look. Last June, the NYTimes ran a feature on a little cottage in the Catskills and the coop reminds me of that shabby chic style which I am so in love with right now! http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/24/garden/24cottage.html

If we didn't have a Home owners assoc. I would be out there right now building. These houses are so cute. Only I think mine would be a potting shed. Of course I would share...a bit of space with the kiddos. Just ooze charm...that coop is darling. Poor chickens, but it does make a great play house. What till you see what I have done to my latest doll dresser! Smiles...Renee

Oh, how I miss my chickens!! Made me a little teary-eyed to see my favorite hen "Gerdie" in the pictures.

You've done such an amazing job on your treehouse!! I CAN"T WAIT to see what kind of magic you are going to work on the inside! Very exciting!

Would you believe that I just got back into keeping chickens?? I have 12 baby chicks in my garage right now! Oh, and a "fortified" new chicken house. Not pretty like the cottage, but should keep those darn coyotes and bobcats from getting to my precious flock!!

Big hugs to you my sweet friend!!

What a wonderful place to be! I especially like the little bed area on top! I'd go in that dreamy house and never want to come back again....

I've been wanting chickens, but the story of them being eaten makes me think twice. It must have been heartbreaking.

Cant wait to see what you do with those little purses. I know it will be sweet! Your friends playhouse is adorable! I would want to be hanging out in it myself! I have to go back and mark her blog so I can keep track of other pretty things happening there!
I just stopped home for lunch because I had to be nearby, and it is just lovely outside! Im going to go sit on the porch for about 10minutes and then back to work I go!
have a great day

You all have such amazing playhouses! It reminds me of my baby sister's little green playhouse. I was a big teenage girl at that time, but I loved it too. Sadly we had to leave that little house behind when we moved. (If it had just been across town, I'm sure we would have kept it, but this was a major move, to a different country.)
