It was non-stop fun this past weekend. In fact, I have a slew of pictures to edit over this week. On Saturday night, we enjoyed our belated mid-autumn festival with another adoptive family. We had a lovely dinner and then came back to our house to light sky lanterns in our backyard.
The anticipation was very very exciting!!
Although my camera really struggles in low light conditions, the night was truly magical. Believe me, our short video really does it better justice than the pictures I ended up taking with the flash.
The smiles on their faces says it all.
We will definitely be purchasing sky lanterns for Chinese New Year in January.
What a memorable experience. I just showed my daughters the video, the loved it. I would also love to do this. We were very disorganized this year with school starting that we didn't get to any of our local celebrations and I feel bad about that. Thank you so much for posting that little video.
thats awesome. Did you make them or buy them? I'm glad you had a nice weekend. I pretty much rested all weekend and didnt do anything special. I needed to lay low with this silly cold, which is still hanging on to me! but I do feel somewhat better.. have a great week! xoxo vivian
I'd never seen these before, until our town's 4th of July festival. Looks like you had a great time, and you can just see the joy on Josie's face.....such a sweetie!
How wonderful that you had this chinese celebration for the kids. Josie is one lucky little girl, and she is beautiful! The little boy is adorable too! I hope she enjoys her dancing class. Ibet she will!! Now, I am off to check out those cute Halloween things made from pipe cleaners! Too cute.
The lantern looks like so much fun and such a great way to celebrate the mid-autumn festival! Don't think we could do that here in CA, though. Blessings, Janet
Amazing sky lanterns. My son would LOVE that but we couldn't have anything like that where we live (everything is so dry and no open fires are allowed---I wonder if we could go to a park or something). They really are magical.
In 2008, we traveled to China to adopt a toddler who needed
heart surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot and hand surgery to remove an extra thumb. I'm always happy to share our experience with SN adoption. When I'm not at work, you might find me at an thrift/antique store or estate sale. I also love to sneak in a craft project and decorate our multiple dollhouses with my girls.
Come play with me!

In 2008, we went to the Jiangxi Province to adopt a little girl who needed open-heart surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot and hand surgery to remove an extra thumb. I'm always happy to share our experience with a SN adoption with others.
When I'm home from work, I love to sneak in a weekly craft project or a trip to my favorite antique/thrift stores. Come play with me!

We love those - couldn't do them this July because of burn bans, hoping we can do them for fall - so pretty.
Family fun...doesn't get any better than that! Enjoy your sweet kids, they grow up fast! Happy Monday, my friend! ♥

I'll be checking CNN to see the reports on UFO's in your area!

They really are magical.
Those lanterns are so much larger than I had thought they were from the other photos. They really are quite impressive.
