The KEY is to really keep an eye on them in the oven and be ready to use your hot mitts to shape the sides. I found a great tutorial on this site. I did make a few modifications.
1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Turn the bowl upside down on a cookie sheet, and balance the record horizontally on the base of the bowl. When the oven is hot, place the cookie sheet, the bowl, and the record inside the oven and set your timer for 8 to 10 minutes.
I needed the full TEN minutes to get the plastic pliable. Keep in mind, that everyone's oven is different.
2. After 8 to 10 minutes, the vinyl will start bending down around the bowl. The vinyl cools quickly, so you'll be able to work with it immediately, but don't forget that the metal bowl and cookie sheet are hot! USE OVEN MITTS!!
3. Shape the edges however you'd like; more precise folding will give you finer scalloped edges. If the vinyl gets too cool to mold, just stick it back in the oven for a few minutes.
4. Wipe out the bowl (you might want to line it with a decorative napkin...but we live in the edge) and fill with your favorite snack.
I'm not quite done with our Justin Bieber party decorations.

Oh my word! Those turned out sooo cute! They will be perfect for your party. I am working on party stuff too. Our parties will be here before you know it. I can't wait to see more!
Justin Bieber?! Come on...isn't Emma just a baby...or a toddler at most? I'm sure everyone will have a lot of fun at the party. Cute, cute bowls....Sherry
Hahaha, how fun! I kinda want to make some just to have around the house. You dont really need a reason for record bowls do ya?
Did the girls ask what those were? Makes me feel old. Seems like CD's are almost a thing of the past too with itunes. I loved my records we used them as walls when we played barbies! Very, cute! Smiles....Renee
You are one fearless crafter! Great job!!
This is such a cute idea!
I didn't even think that it involved the oven. Makes sense now though! Those are really cute.
You are the coolest mom ever!! I LOVE it!!
I knew you could do it!!! It really is a cool craft and great decor to go along with the Bieber fever party. You know that you and I will have to repeat this one with the next heartthrob that comes along with Tori and Josie!
Have a great Wednesday...
Cindy
Such a neat idea! How cute and not too difficult either. Great.
Kim, your bowls turned out great!!! They will be perfect for the party!!
I remember a couple of years ago when I had kids getting ready to start freshman year of college, this vinyl chip bowl was featured on the college website as a fun craft and easy way to add personality to ones dorm room. :-)
I love this idea! And yes, we'd be on the edge too. Totally.
