Romancing your chocolate boxes...

Over the last several years, I've shared tutorials on transforming chocolate boxes with bits of trim, crepe paper and decorative paper. I'll confess. I'm addicted to making these. I've probably made 10 of them this year as gifts.

It's a simple, but pretty way to give someone you love a special handmade treat.

Step 1. Separate the lid from the box of chocolate. Turn the lid over and trace the lid onto scrapbooking paper or wrapping paper with a pen.

In this example, I used origami paper that I had left over from a previous craft project. Cut out the heart shape and set aside.

Step 2. Cut some crepe paper and draw a line of glue around the edge of the chocolate lid. Fold the crepe paper back and forth over the glue to form ruffles. Cover the entire lid with crepe paper ruffles.

Step 3. Cover the heart shape with glue and lay on top of the lid to cover the seam of the crepe paper ruffle.

Step 4. Use sequins, ribbons, stickers to further embellish your chocolate box.

For an easier variation, you could also hot glue lace ruffles onto the edge of your chocolate box and add a paper lace doily to the center of your lid.

Don't forget, you can find so many lovely vintage Valentine images on ImagiMeri's Creations. She just posted new ones last Thursday. Swoon.

Happy crafting!
Happy Valentines!

XOXO

My daughters absolutely love the ones they received from you, they are displayed on our mantel until the big day. All of your creations are just lovely, so unique and so much nicer than the original box. Great tutorial - I pinned it to my Valentine's inspiration board. Have a great day!

You create the most addictive crafts! I decorated a box last night to give as a gift. Now, just like the peat pot craft, I am addicted! (I will post my creation soon.)

Thanks so much for sharing all your ideas. Oh how I wish we lived closer! We could get into so much trouble. :)

Many crafty hugs,
Cindy

Wait until you see what I have planned for a heart box!
Hope to get what I need before the holiday...and it has to do with miniatures!
Off to Lowell today for lunch with friends-heard about a new vintage shop I have never visited! Yippee!
Have a great day!

I didn't make anything this year for Valentine's Day except for a bunting, so I hope I remember this next year. Another great idea from my favorite crafter!

That is the prettiest box of chocolate ever! What a great gift idea, I love it! My husband gave me a card last week that says "i tried a dessert called death by chocolate, but it only made me stronger." Fitting for this time of year!
