May the odds be ever in your favor!

Source
Tomorrow we're hosting a Hunger Games themed 17th bday party for Emma, hence the "may the odds be ever in your favor" quote. Unfortunately, the weather isn't in our favor and the majority of the activities are taking place outside. This could be rather interesting party. I promise to share pictures.
It's our 23rd wedding anniversary today.  Hopefully,Chris and I can slip away for a quiet dinner later this weekend.
I hit an early morning estate sale recently and found the coolest metal folding table.  It's headed to the lake.  Aren't the graphics wonderful?
Of course, I had to scoop up some vintage board games and a turkey planter too.
If  you are a Peanuts (or Snoopy fan).  Target is selling these cute $1 items.  In case you are curious, they are back with the BBQ supplies (not the $1 supplies).  Have a fantastic weekend, friends.  May the "weather" odds be in your favor!

Looking ahead...

How did the long holiday weekend end already?
I'm certainly not ready to be back at work.
Speaking of work, less than 2 weeks remain for the girls and my husband's academic year.  Yippee!
Have a fabulous and festive week, friends.

Party on!!

Tomorrow is my birthday.
I'm exactly one week and thirty years apart from Emma.
I'll let you do the math.
Have a great holiday weekend, friends.

Bday adventures at the lake and a few vintage finds...

Thank you for wishing Emma a happy 17th birthday!
We did a quick over night and celebrated Emma's birthday at the lake.

We found these vintage looking signs at our local $ store.

The arrows weren't exactly pointing in the right direction, so I did a little duck tape magic.
Back on Mother's day, we attended the Grand Rapids Vintage Street Market and I came home with a couple of woodland themed items.
Mr.  Bear now resides inside the A-frame and my sister has already informed me that he might end up visiting her home in the near future.

It's another busy work week, but I'm looking forward to the long holiday weekend and my own birthday on Sunday.  Emma and I are exactly 7 days apart in our birthdays.  May is an expensive month for Chris.  Smile.

Take time and smell the flowers this week. XOXO

Mid-week check-in...

I know I've been missing-in-action. MAY is my crazy time with organizing and teaching faculty development workshops and with the addition of Josie's evening softball league and "life-in-general", the blog updating or blog visiting hasn't been as frequent.  I'll catch up.  I promise.
The biggest event this week is that Emma will be celebrating a very important birthday on Sunday.
My baby is going to be 17 on the 17th!   How did that happen?
We're hosting a "Hunger Games" themed birthday party for a bunch of her friends at the end of the month. The party details haven't quite been worked out yet.  I've never read any of the books, or watched the movie series, so this should be interesting, but I'm up for the party challenge!

Happy Wednesday.

Happy Mother's day to all the special ladies in my life, including my blogging ladies.
Hope you are having a marvelous weekend.

XOXO

B is for ...

B is for...BASEBALL (actually girl's softball)
Josie is really enjoying her softball league.  She's learning how to play all sorts of positions and we've found that she is actually quite good.
 B is for...BASS FISHING
On Friday night, we made a quick trip to the A-frame and  Josie even caught her first bass of 2015 from our dock!
B is for BIG TIME RAKING
On Saturday, we spent the entire day at our house getting the yard under control from winter.  Hours later, the back woods is now clear of leaves and brush.
My gnome family also enjoyed some spring cleaning and their little gnome house has a few more solar powered toadstool lights.  I just love this little house so much.
B is for...BAND
On Sunday, Emma received her varsity letter for high school band.  I can't believe my baby is going to be a senior next year!  We're so proud of her.
B is for...BLOOMS
My University office is buried behind these gorgeous blooms right now.  If I have to be stuck inside, it's not a bad view to have!  Have a great week ahead, friends!

Swinging into May

Yesterday, I hit an estate sale at the very late end of the work day.
Let's just say, I was swinging (more like skipping) out of there!
Always on the hunt for vintage Christmas treasures, and I was rewarded with a big box of dusty goodness. I didn't even know what was all in the box, but the whole box was $5!
At the bottom of the box was a spunhead/chenille stem creation that looks like something Laurie (Magpie Ethel) might have created.
I've already decided this red, white and blue putz house will be getting a Kim K. patriotic makeover.
We have lots on our agenda this weekend, including a quick stop by the cottage to drop off some things and retrieve our boat for spring cleaning.  Have a wonderful weekend, friends.
