New Thrifty Finds...

THANK YOU for all the wonderful birthday wishes. I had a fabulous birthday. My husband even sent flowers to my University office. I don't think he's ever done that before and it was a nice surprise.

I thought you'd like to see a few pictures taken at my favorite thrifty/antique mall. This is where I sneak off to at least once a week. It's less than 15 minutes from my house...which makes it slightly dangerous.

Would you like to see a few items that came home with me last week? Emma and I have been keeping an eye on this hutch/shelving unit for a few weeks.

It's narrow enough to fit in our treehouse and not take up a lot of floor space. It will be used for holding card games, reading materials and a few baskets filled with crafting supplies.

I think the pink lamp that I repurposed last week, will also go on the top shelf of the hutch. One of the reasons I love this antique/thrift store so much is that the prices are amazing. I picked up this bag of linens and it was marked 50% off. I'm going to show you some before/after pictures of my treasurers.

For $2, I got ALL these items...

This Sunday, my mom, sister and I are heading to Allegan for their once-a-month antique market. We always manage to find lots of goodies. I promise to bring my cell camera along on our adventures.

MY Birthday Give-away!!

Hello friends! I'm celebrating my birthday TODAY! I have to show off a few items that my family gave me over the weekend. I don't normally feature pictures of myself on the blog, so get ready. It probably won't happen again for awhile.

My mother (the artist/seamstress/quilter) made this 3 panel quilt to hang in my new University office.

Aren't the Asian influences beautiful?

My mother also gave me this sweet yellow enamel cup filled with all kinds of lovely trims to use on future crafting projects.

My sister gave me these stunning matching sunglasses to wear on our upcoming antique flea market trip scheduled for Saturday.

Let's hope it's sunny enough to wear them!
Rain, rain go away!!

My Aunts gave me this pitcher which was formally my grandmother's and was used to pour morning milk on my mother/Aunt Jean's breakfast cereal.

What a special item.

Chris and the girls are treating me to dinner and gifts later this evening. We're just full of birthday celebrations around here. Next up is Josie's superhero birthday party.

She's turning five on June 10th and I haven't even begun to plot her party decor yet. Guess it's time to take down the Bieber Fever tree in our sunroom and replace it with superheros.

To share my festive mood, I've giving away a few Kim K creations (button bouquet and a mod podge decorative candle) along with a vintage hankie and some of my favorite Jasmine tea).

Entering is super easy! All you need to do is leave me a comment on this post. I'd love it if you were a follower, but there's no pressure. The girls will draw the winning name on Memorial Day 5/30 at 7pm (EST).

Good luck and Party ON!
XOXO

A Bieber Fever Birthday Celebration!!

We've been plotting Emma's special 13th birthday for weeks. Bieber Fever and anything PURPLE was in full force on Saturday.

You thought I was kidding about pin-the-hair on Bieber.

Josie couldn't get enough tattoos

My Aunts put together a special collage featuring items from Emma's musical Aladdin. Thank you Aunt Jean & Aunt Marion.

My father gave Emma a rosary he carried with him
while serving in Vietnam.

My Mom made beautiful brownies!

Happy 13th Birthday, sweetie!!

XOXO
